The Chairman Northern States Governor\u2019s Forum, NSGF, Dr. Mu\u2019azu Babangida Aliyu has described the statement credited to Arewa Consultative Forum, ACF, claiming that northern governors rejected their recommendations on how to end the Boko Haram insurgency as unfortunate<\/p>\n

. He said such unprovoked allegation made by the ACF against the forum after all it has done to fight insurgency in the North was unfair and capable of exacerbating the problem on ground, if it was indeed its views.<\/p>\n

\u00a0Aliyu said \u00a0rather than play the blame game, \u00a0what should be paramount to all is ending it, insisting that the northern governors made wide consultations based on various experiences, especially in flash point areas towards charting a security roadmap for the region on how best to end the insurgency and wondered how the ACF could come with such allegation after all their efforts.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe consulted widely with socio-political groups towards ending Boko Haram insurgency and other security matters in the North. We inaugurated a committee, extended the period of that committee to accommodate all the views. Ibrahim Coomassie, Chairman of ACF is aware of our effort.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cWe forwarded our recommendation to the Federal Government as part of our effort towards ending insurgency in the North. I was indeed shocked to read in one of the dailies that ACF alleged that we rejected their recommendations when in actual sense; we were the ones begging for contributions. What is expected of anybody or group is words of encouragement, contribution, commendation and not accusations.\u201d<\/p>\n

Aliyu said that the security committee was given 90 days to submit its report to the NSGF, its terms of reference include; to liaise with stakeholders in the northern states, particularly the affected states, and get to the root of the security challenges and proffer solutions.<\/p>\n

\u00a0The committee, according to him, was also mandated to dialogue with any identified groups, with a view to negotiating the way out of the problem and also liaised with the Federal Government and deliberate on the best approach in resolving the security challenges.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
