{"id":31851,"date":"2014-10-08T06:39:19","date_gmt":"2014-10-08T05:39:19","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/pointblanknews.com\/pbn\/?p=31851"},"modified":"2014-10-08T06:39:19","modified_gmt":"2014-10-08T05:39:19","slug":"ex-gov-obi-dumps-apga-pdp","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/pointblanknews.com\/pbn\/exclusive\/ex-gov-obi-dumps-apga-pdp\/","title":{"rendered":"Ex Gov Obi dumps APGA for PDP\u00a0"},"content":{"rendered":"<div>A former Anambra State Governor, Mr. Peter Obi, on Tuesday dumped the All Progressives Grand Alliance for the Peoples Democratic Party.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>Obi said he moved over to the PDP from the regionally-based APGA because he found the PDP to be a better platform to work for national development.<\/div>\n<div>\nHe said his new party would afford him a better opportunity to work with President Goodluck Jonathan, with whom he had aligned in his days as an APGA governor.<\/p>\n<p>The defection was declared by Obi himself at a well celebrated ceremony at his Onitsha residence, where PDP bigwigs from the South-East and the entire country turned the place into a carnival, which was attended by heavy traffic in the commercial city for many hours.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cNobody is more committed to President Goodluck Jonathan than me. So, I will work with him. I am going to work with the President. It is a question of working with the President wholeheartedly and not one leg in APGA and the other leg in PDP. There is the need for us to work together,\u201d he declared.<br \/>\nObi\u2019s supporters in the National Assembly had two months ago, defected to the PDP, while he resigned his chairmanship of the Board of Trustees of APGA.<br \/>\nOn hand to receive Obi was the Deputy Senate President, Ike Ekwerumadu; Deputy Speaker, House of Representatives, Mr. Emeka Ihedioha;\u00a0 Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Sen. Pius Anyim, and the Chairman of the South-East\u00a0 Governors\u2019 Forum, Governor Theodore Orji of Abia State.<br \/>\nOthers were the Governor of Akwa-Ibom State, Chief Godswill Akpabio; a former Governor of Enugu State, Okwesilieze Nwodo; a former Senate President, Adolphus Wabara;\u00a0 Sen. Uche\u00a0 Chukwumerije, Emma Anosike, Sen. Hope Uzodinma, Sen. Ben Obi, Sen.
