Leadership of the Peoples\u2019 Democratic Party (PDP) in Oyo State has been<\/p>\n
cautioned not to give in to pressure from a group of party leaders in<\/p>\n
Abuja on the planned imposition of the former Senate Leader, Senator<\/p>\n
Teslim Folarin as the PDP gubernatorial candidate for the State\u00a0 in the<\/p>\n
2015 general elections.<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
The leadership under the arrow head of Seriki Yekini Adeojo was<\/p>\n
particularly warned that any attempt to impose Senator Folarin as the<\/p>\n
party\u2019s flag bearer through any form would spell doom for PDP in all the<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
According to a statement issued in Ibadan today by the Rescue Team 2015, a<\/p>\n
group that has become popular through its sustained crusade for the return<\/p>\n
of PDP to power in Oyo State noted that information filtering out from the<\/p>\n
leaders on their latest disposition to the candidature of Senator Folarin<\/p>\n
whom most of them had earlier decried for the gubernatorial election has<\/p>\n
become a source of worry capable of ruining the party and tarnishing the<\/p>\n
leaders\u2019 reputation as well.<\/p>\n

The Team in the statement signed by its Coordinator, Mr. Babalola Afobaje<\/p>\n
added that the claim that the leadership has finally ceded the ticket to<\/p>\n
him was already scaring away prospective members while many old members<\/p>\n
are now contemplating on mass exodus from the PDP.<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
Though The Rescue Team disclosed that it was not unaware of the immense<\/p>\n
pressure being piled on the leaders including\u00a0 Seriki Yekini Adeojo, High<\/p>\n
Chief Lekan Balogun , Oloye Jumoke Akinjide , Senator Hosea Agboola and<\/p>\n
others by the same cabal that misled the national leadership of the party<\/p>\n
in fielding a wrong candidate for the Osun gubernatorial election<\/p>\n
maintained that the leaders should be steadfast and be bold enough to let<\/p>\n
the Abuja know that the candidature of the former Senate Leader that wage<\/p>\n
a serious\u00a0 war against PDP in 2011 was a hard sell.<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
\u201cWe are equally aware\u201d, the group said \u201cof the various degrees of<\/p>\n
intimidation being faced by the leaders in the hands of Senator Folarin<\/p>\n
who is always fast in mentioning the names of the Deputy [KNational<\/p>\n
Chairman of the party,\u00a0 Chief Uche Secondus and the highly respected<\/p>\n
stability personified, The Senate President, Senator David\u00a0 Mark as those<\/p>\n
that have already given him the ticket\u201d<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
\u201cWhile we would not accept the seeming summersault on the issue of Teslim<\/p>\n
Folarin by the leaders\u00a0 as deliberate ploy to sabotage the party at the<\/p>\n
elections\u00a0 as already being insinuated in some quarters, we would like to<\/p>\n
advise our revered leaders to trace the path of success in the in interest<\/p>\n
of the party , the teeming members of PDP in Oyo State and for their own<\/p>\n
sake to resist any temptation and intimidation from any quarters and see<\/p>\n
that only the credible, non controversial , popular and acceptable<\/p>\n
candidates are fielded for all positions.<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
\u201c How on earth will our leaders succumb to any pressure from whatever<\/p>\n
quarters to field a PDP Senator that openly ruined the chances of our<\/p>\n
party of winning the gubernatorial and other elections in 2011 and as well<\/p>\n
continued our people oriented government in the state . If he and his co<\/p>\n
travelers have forgotten the havoc wrecked in the last elections, the PDP<\/p>\n
members that he deprived the chances of becoming commissioners, special<\/p>\n
advisers, special assistants, local government chairmen, councilors and<\/p>\n
myriads of other positions are still nursing the wounds.<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
\u201cThe masses of Oyo State too are equally bitter with the Senator for the<\/p>\n
ignoble role he played in the installation of Senator Ajimobi as Governor<\/p>\n
who has unleashed unprecedented hardship , pain , sorrow deprivation,<\/p>\n
hunger and penury on the masses of the state\u201d.<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
The Rescue Team argued further that \u201c if the party members are crossed<\/p>\n
with Senator Folarin and the generality of the people too bitter with him,<\/p>\n
of what value would the choice of Senator Folarin as the gubernatorial<\/p>\n
candidate of the PDP be to the party?<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
We have listened to you severally we know you have good plans on how you<\/p>\n
had earlier planned to choose for us.\u00a0 We all know that PDP is the most<\/p>\n
popular party in the state now. The state is just for the pick by the<\/p>\n
party but choosing a person all of you know qu<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
ite well cannot even win a councillorship seat would be suicidal and the<\/p>\n
members would certainly not be pleased with it.\u201d<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
For those scheming for Senator Folarin from far away Abuja our advice is<\/p>\n
that they should come to Ibadan and more specifically come privately to<\/p>\n
Ona Ara , the home local government of Senator Folarin to ascertain his<\/p>\n
popularity. Out of any ten persons they may not get a single person that<\/p>\n
would support him.\u201d<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
As committed and totally loyal party members, The Rescue Team said they<\/p>\n
would take their campaign to all the notable party leaders in the state<\/p>\n
and as well visit all the credible aspirants and other stakeholders in<\/p>\n
ensuring that PDP field the best candidates for the governorship and all<\/p>\n
posts. We have a very good opportunity to win Oyo State 100 per cent and<\/p>\n
we will not allow the opportunity to slip through our fingers.<\/p>\n
