{"id":32258,"date":"2014-10-17T21:40:09","date_gmt":"2014-10-17T20:40:09","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/pointblanknews.com\/pbn\/?p=32258"},"modified":"2014-10-17T21:40:09","modified_gmt":"2014-10-17T20:40:09","slug":"nigeria-boko-haram-agree-ceasefire-chibok-girls-release","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/pointblanknews.com\/pbn\/exclusive\/nigeria-boko-haram-agree-ceasefire-chibok-girls-release\/","title":{"rendered":"Nigeria, Boko Haram Agree Ceasefire, Chibok girls\u2019 Release"},"content":{"rendered":"<div id=\"yiv1510122815post-page-title\" style=\"color: #444444;\">\n<h1 style=\"font-weight: bold;\"><\/h1>\n<\/div>\n<div id=\"yiv1510122815post-content\" style=\"color: #444444;\">\n<p id=\"yui_3_16_0_1_1413578304924_1783\">After years of insurgency, the Federal Government and Boko Haram, have entered into a ceasefire agreement, aimed at ending the reign of terror in the North Eastern part of Nigeria.<br \/>\nAccording to reports, the agreement, was facilitated by the Chadian leader, Idriss Deby, on behalf of the federal government, and the group\u2019s \u2018Chief Security Officer\u2019, Danladi Ahmadu.<br \/>\nThe announcement was made\u00a0<span class=\"yiv1510122815\"><span class=\"yiv1510122815\">on Friday<\/span><\/span>\u00a0by the Director General of the National Orientation Agency (NOA), Mr. Mike Omeri.<br \/>\nThe NOA Director General also used the occasion to allay fears over the condition of the over 200 students of Government Secondary School, Chibok, Borno State, who were abducted by Boko Haram elements on April. 14, saying the sect had assured of the girls\u2019 safety.<br \/>\nAddressing journalists at the National Information Centre (NIC), Abuja, Omeri, who is also the coordinator, disclosed that Deby, is playing a central role in the negotiation.<br \/>\nPresident Goodluck Jonathan had recently met with Deby in N\u2019 Djamena, the Chadian capital, ostensibly to find a way out of the Boko Haram crisis.<br \/>\n\u201cWe can confirm to you that there have been contacts between the government and representatives of Boko Haram.<br \/>\n\u201cThe discussions are essentially in relation to the general insecurity in the North East and also the need to rescue all captives of the terrorists, including the students of Government Girls Secondary School, Chibok.<br \/>\n\u201cFrom the discussions, they (Boko Haram) indicated their desire for and willingness to discuss and resolve all associated issues.<br \/>\n\u201cThey also assured that the school girls and all other people in their captivity, are all alive and well.<br \/>\n\u201cAlready, the terrorists have announced a ceasefire in furtherance of their desire for peace.
