{"id":32609,"date":"2014-10-29T20:46:56","date_gmt":"2014-10-29T19:46:56","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/pointblanknews.com\/pbn\/?p=32609"},"modified":"2014-10-29T20:46:56","modified_gmt":"2014-10-29T19:46:56","slug":"2015-ill-fight-cancer-rivers-anyanya-blames-disease-oil-exploration","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/pointblanknews.com\/pbn\/news\/2015-ill-fight-cancer-rivers-anyanya-blames-disease-oil-exploration\/","title":{"rendered":"2015: I&#8217;ll Fight cancer in Rivers &#8211; Anyanya blames disease on oil exploration\u00a0"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Frontline governorship aspirant of the Peoples Democratic Party in Rivers State, Major Lancelot Anyanya has promised to fight cancer in the state, if elected, even as he blamed the scourge on oil exploration by multinational oil companies.<\/span><br style=\"color: #000000;\" \/><br style=\"color: #000000;\" \/><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Anyanya pledged to take Rivers State to what he described as &#8220;the Promised Land&#8221; and bing back greatness to the people.\u00a0<\/span><br style=\"color: #000000;\" \/><br style=\"color: #000000;\" \/><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Anyanya spoke at a rally shortly after commissioning his campaign secretariat in Port Harcourt.<\/span><br style=\"color: #000000;\" \/><br style=\"color: #000000;\" \/><span style=\"color: #000000;\">The aspirant further pledged to reduce poverty, ignorance, and environmental degradation, and ensure food security in line\u00a0 with \u201cthe Rivers greatness creed\u201d he recently inaugurated.<\/span><br style=\"color: #000000;\" \/><br style=\"color: #000000;\" \/><span style=\"color: #000000;\">According to Anyanya, his administration would pay special attention to healthcare services in Rivers State.<\/span><br style=\"color: #000000;\" \/><br style=\"color: #000000;\" \/><span style=\"color: #000000;\">He said, &#8220;My first time in school \u2013 I went to Sacred Heart with my late older sister who died of cancer and that\u2019s why we will fight cancer. We\u2019ll fight cancer because we know that because of the impact of oil exploration, most of our people are battling with cancer.\u00a0<\/span><br style=\"color: #000000;\" \/><br style=\"color: #000000;\" \/><span style=\"color: #000000;\">&#8220;So a state government must make Medicare of the highest standard that will deal with issues that our people are forced to deal with and make it a priority. So we will fight cancer by the grace of God.<\/span><br style=\"color: #000000;\" \/><br style=\"color: #000000;\" \/><span style=\"color: #000000;\">&#8220;We will deliver infrastructure that will deliver you from this hold-up that appears like the wall of Jericho. Our city is growing every day but yet you deal with traffic gridlock like the wall of Jericho; but I\u2019ve come to announce to you, the wall of Jericho will fall down flat.&#8221;I declare that the message is one and simple: greatness is coming back to Rivers State.
