{"id":32923,"date":"2014-11-07T06:05:21","date_gmt":"2014-11-07T05:05:21","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/pointblanknews.com\/pbn\/?p=32923"},"modified":"2014-11-07T06:05:21","modified_gmt":"2014-11-07T05:05:21","slug":"counter-terrorism-huriwa-asks-nigeria-sign-defence-pact-russia","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/pointblanknews.com\/pbn\/news\/counter-terrorism-huriwa-asks-nigeria-sign-defence-pact-russia\/","title":{"rendered":"+Counter Terrorism- Huriwa Asks Nigeria To Sign Defence Pact With Russia:"},"content":{"rendered":"<ul>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\">+WANTS OPPOSITION POLITICIANS TO REACH OUT TO SOUTH AFRICA:<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">As a panacea to the lingering security nightmares created by the seemingly never ending murderous attacks against civilian and institutional soft targets by the armed Islamic terrorists in the North Eastern Nigerian and the unfortunate successes recorded by the terrorists, a suggestion has been made by the HUMAN RIGHTS WRITERS ASSOCIATION OF NIGERIA [HURIWA] to the Nigerian Federal Government to explore the possibility of signing a mutual defence pact with the Russian federation since the United States Government have rejected all overtures to assist the country to defeat violent religious extremism that is threatening the territorial integrity of Nigeria.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Besides, the Rights group has tasked the leading opposition politicians in the All Progressives Congress [APC] to stop playing extreme politics with the war on terror but to use their privileged positions as close friends of the South African President Mr Jacob Zuma to reach out to his government to convince it on the need to stop sabotaging and undermining the effort of the current Nigerian Federal Government to procure combat weapons for use to defeat the murderous insurgencies that have become unprecedented in scope and atrocious in the extent of damage and wanton destructions of lives and property of Nigerian citizenry.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">In a statement jointly authorized\u00a0by the National Coordinator Comrade Emmanuel Onwubiko and the National Media Affairs Director Miss Zainab Yusuf, HURIWA faulted the decision of the leadership of the leading opposition party in Nigeria to increasingly fire criticism directed at the President Good luck Jonathan-led administration for the apparent failure of the Nigerian military to contain the rising violent Islamic extremism and the wanton destructive attacks against select Nigerian communities in the North East by the Boko Haram. The Rights group said it is Nigeria and Nigerians that are increasingly coming under deadly attacks and systematic genocidal killings and therefore urged politicians of all platforms and affiliations to provide bipartisan support to the government of the day to decisively crush all the violent attacks by terrorists aimed at destroying Nigeria.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The Rights group specifically faulted the high profile media events in Yola, Adamawa state and\u00a0 Abuja, Nigeria&#8217;s federal capital\u00a0bankrolled by the Presidential aspirant of the All Progressives Congress [APC] Alhaji Atiku Abubakar in which he used the platform to criticised the Federal Government for failing to effectively defeat the armed Islamic terrorists. HURIWA said the task of decisively crushing the murderous activities of the armed terrorists is the civic duty of each and everyone of us just as it also stated that it is imperative for such influential political leaders such as the former Vice President Atiku Abubakar and the former President Olusegun Obasanjo to explore their friendship with major World and regional leaders such as the South African President to see reason not to antagonize Nigeria&#8217;s current counter terrorism war.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">On the call for defence pact with Russia since the United States of America has turned its back on Nigeria but has instead decided to await the possible outcome of the prediction made by the United States security think tank that Nigeria will disintegrate in 2015, HURIWA said Nigeria must look towards the East to places such as Russia or China for effective and comprehensive mutually benefitting defence pact with either Russia or China so Nigeria can procure the necessary military hardware and the needed technical assistance to wage successful anti-terror battles to retrieve all the captured Nigerian territories from the armed Islamic extremists and to stop forthwith the incessant murderous bombing and violent attacks against Nigerians and institutions of government.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">HURIWA stated thus; &#8221;Nigerian Federal Government must now make concerted and pragmatic diplomatic effort to broaden her scope of international friendship to include the possibility of working out practical defence and military partnership with either Russia or China to once and for all confront headlong the increasing wave of violent attacks aimed at destroying Nigeria by the armed Boko Haram and their political affiliates. Nigeria must think in terms of doing something concrete to fortify our defences against external aggressors and internal rebellions so as to preserve and protect the sanctity of our national sovereignty and some of these workable measures may include entering into defence pact with strong military nations like China and\/or Russia particularly when it has been made abundantly clear that the current United States political establishment does not wish us well because\u00a0they no longer rely solely on our crude oil since the discovery in commercial quantity of shale crude oil and also because some of their leading defence analysts have concluded that Nigeria will split by next year.
