The three Ogun senators, Adegbenga Kaka, Akin Odunsi, and Gbenga Obadara<\/p>\n
on Wednesday submitted their letters of defection from the All
\nProgressives Congress (APC) to the Social Democratic Party (SDP).<\/p>\n
They are representing Ogun East, Ogun West and Ogun Central respectively.
\nChairman of the state caucus at the National Assembly, Kaka told newsmen
\nin Abuja that the three of them delivered their letters to the leadership
\nof the Senate.<\/p>\n
He said the official correspondences were aimed at notifying the Senate
\nPresident, Sen. David Mark, of their defections from the APC to the SDP.
\nKaka said their actions were consequent upon the \u201cfactionalisation in the
\nparty (APC in Ogun) leading to the emergence of parallel executives from
\nward, local government areas to state levels\u2019\u2019.<\/p>\n
He said \u201cour protest, appeal and demand for justice from the national
\nleadership of the party have yielded no result\u201d.<\/p>\n
\u201cRather, the faction that flagrantly flouted the party guidelines was
\ngiven recognition by the National Executive,\u2019\u2019 he said.<\/p>\n
Kaka said that they had no option than to withdraw their membership of the
\nparty after due consultations with their constituents.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe gave a very long rope. We felt that we cannot be looking for peace
\nwhen the other members involved in the illegality are not interested in
\npeace.\u2019\u2019<\/p>\n
\u201cOur supporters are getting restless and the deadline for submission of
\nforms is closing. We cannot continue to wait endlessly.\u201d<\/p>\n
Asked whether they could still reconsider their decisions, Kaka said that
\nonly God could make them to change their minds.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe have waited for over two and half years to even have an interaction
\nwith the governor, but he avoids us.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe have explored all channels to resolve the crisis without success.<\/p>\n
\u201cMaybe the leadership of the party thinks otherwise about us.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe tendency for impunity and injustice led us to where we are today,\u2019\u2019
\nhe said.<\/p>\n
According to him, \u201cthe situation where three senators, seven House of
\nRepresentatives members, the deputy governor, many members of the state
\nHouse of Assembly and Chief Aremu Osoba himself are pulling out gives
\ncause to worry,\u2019\u2019 Kaka said.<\/p>\n
On why they chose SDP, he said that apart from their ideological
\norientation, the SDP was the party Chief Segun Osoba rode on to becoming a
\ngovernor of the state.<\/p>\n
