Imo State Governor and presidential aspirant under the platform of All
\nProgressives Congress, APC, Owelle Rochas Okorocha has been confirmed as
\nthe keynote speaker at a high-level conference slated for Thursday, 4th
\nDecember 2014 at the British House of Commons.<\/p>\n
The conference, organized by African Diaspora Agenda (ADA), UK in
\ncollaboration with BAME Labour, will be focusing on the activities that
\nwill shape many African communities, both on the continent and in Diaspora
\nin 2015.<\/p>\n
Of major importance at the parley will be issues around the attainment of the
\nMillennium Development Goals whose timeline is 2015; political transition
\non the continent like the Nigerian election that is coming up next year;
\nand change within African Diaspora host country, like the United Kingdom,
\nwhose general election is set for 2015.<\/p>\n
Governor Rochas Okorocha, an active voice in the affairs of Nigeria and
\nAfrica in general, will be delivering a speech titled: Transition & Civic
\nEngagements \u2013 What Does 2015 Portend? in which salient issues confronting
\nNigeria, and its Diaspora population will be broadly addressed. It will
\nalso give meaningful perspective to Nigeria\u2019s relationship with the
\noutside world including the United Kingdom.<\/p>\n
According to ADA\u2019s Continent Director, Lekan Fatodu, the parley is timely and
\nstrategically positioned to address the current needs of the African
\npeople, home and abroad.<\/p>\n
\u201cThis parley has been strategically set at this moment \u2013 which we at ADA
\nhave termed the eve of 2015 \u2013 to send a strong reminder and message to all
\nhands in the affairs of Africa on the challenges ahead in the coming year
\nand how to tackle them frontally.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe continent is still in dire need of purposeful leadership, political
\nwill and vibrant citizens to reverse some anti-developmental trends which
\ninclude bad governance, insecurity, health crises and corruption amongst
\nothers and this important conference presents an avenue to addressing
\nthese issues with a framework to measuring outcomes and progress\u201d, Lekan
\nsaid.<\/p>\n
The conference will be hosted by senior members of the British Parliament
\nnamely Rt. Hon. Keith Vaz MP, Chair, Home Affairs Committee; and Chi
\nOnwura MP, Shadow Minister (Cabinet Office). Also, top policy makers and
\ninfluential personalities such as Claude Moraes MEP, Deputy Leader,
\nEuropean Parliament; Ka Jandu, Chair, BAME Labour; and Angela Gorman,
\nFounder, Life for African Mothers are confirmed guest speakers at the
\nconference.<\/p>\n
The event is also planned to attract significant number of participants
\nwho are passionate about the advancement of Africa and are interested in
\ninvestments on the continent.<\/p>\n
