{"id":33809,"date":"2014-12-02T08:00:06","date_gmt":"2014-12-02T07:00:06","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/pointblanknews.com\/pbn\/?p=33809"},"modified":"2014-12-02T08:00:06","modified_gmt":"2014-12-02T07:00:06","slug":"defection-tambuwal-rejects-chukwu-presiding-judge","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/pointblanknews.com\/pbn\/exclusive\/defection-tambuwal-rejects-chukwu-presiding-judge\/","title":{"rendered":"Defection: Tambuwal Rejects Chukwu as Presiding Judge"},"content":{"rendered":"<div>\n<p>Speaker of the House of Representatives, Aminu Waziri Tambuwal, has rejected Justice ESJ Chukwu, as peesiding judge over his case with the PDP.<\/p><\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>He appealed to the Chief Judge of the Federal High Court of Nigeria in Abuja to take away his case, asking for legal interpretation as to the lawfulness of his defection from the PDP to APC, from Court 8, presided over by \u00a0Chukwu.<\/p>\n<p>According to him,,this was imperative because from his antecedents in handling similar cases, the judge had demonstrated bias.<\/p>\n<p>Tambuwal, in a letter dated 30th November, cited many cases in which Justice Chukwu&#8217;s rulings had stalemated proceedings and compelled the defendants to seek justice in the Appeal Court.<\/p>\n<p>The Speaker noted that Justice Chukwu, &#8220;having made a pronouncement on similar issues, in similar cases, decided by him&#8230; has an iron cast judicial position or opinion in respect of his (Tambuwal&#8217;s) own case.&#8221;<\/p><\/div>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<!-- AddThis Advanced Settings generic via filter on the_content --><!-- AddThis Share Buttons generic via filter on the_content --><!-- AddThis Related Posts generic via filter on the_content -->","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Speaker of the House of Representatives, Aminu Waziri Tambuwal, has rejected Justice ESJ Chukwu, as peesiding judge over his case with the PDP.
