Delta North, otherwise known as the Aniomas, may lose the Governorship<\/p>\n
slot to the Urhobos following intense bickering, political blackmail and
\narm-twisting that has greatly divided Politicians seeking the Governorship
\nslot from the zone, Pointblanknews.com investigations reveal.<\/p>\n
As at the last count, more than 20 aspirants have bought and submitted
\nGovernorship nomination forms from the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP,
\nwhich is the preferred political party in the state.<\/p>\n
Out of the huge number of aspirants, none is willing to step down and
\nseveral meetings held to agree to a consensus candidate fell flat.<\/p>\n
Sources told Pointblanknews.com that aspirants now resort to blackmails,
\nand political witch-hunting, a situation that has caused tension in the
\nstate and further divided the PDP.<\/p>\n
Sir Anthony Obuh, a former Permanent Secretary, Senator Ifeanyi Okowa,
\nformer Speaker Victor Ochei, Hon, Ndudi Elumelu are the leading lights in
\nthe Governorship race from Delta North. Okowa and Ochei are allegedly
\nlinked in the blackmail plots to undo other candidates.<\/p>\n
The duo has also been fingered to be parading fake results of the last
\nHouse of Assembly Primaries. Their candidates for the State Assembly
\nPrimaries had lost.<\/p>\n
A very high ranking member of the Party in the state told
\nPointblanknews.com that if situations with aspirants for the Governorship
\nof the State is not immediately fixed, the Governor, Dr. Emmanuel Eweta
\nUduaghan, a proponent for the emergence of a Governor from the Delta
\nNorth, would be prevailed on to look elsewhere.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe cannot keep tolerating the division and the kind of politics being
\nplayed by the Anioma people. It is not healthy for Delta and it is nit
\nhealthy for the polity and if they don\u2019t fix their issues, we will prevail
\non Uduaghan to look elsewhere,\u201d the source who would not want to be named
\ntold Pointblanknews.com.<\/p>\n
Asked where the Governorship may be zoned if Delta North politicians
\nfailed to fix their houses the source said, \u201cUrhobos off course. They are
\nmore politically organized than us.\u201d<\/p>\n
Meanwhile, Delta State Peoples Democratic Party governorship aspirant Sir
\nTony Obuh seems to be coasting home as all his supporters virtually swept
\nthe polls at the House of Assembly primaries conducted on Saturday.
\nThe results indicate that the Tony Obuh\u2019s camp clinched 21 local
\ngovernments as against two for Senator Okowa, one for Chief Godswill
\nObielum and one for Ndudi Elumelu, even though he lost his local
\ngovernment to Tony Obuh\u2019s supporter.
\nThose for Tony Obuh who picked their constituency tickets include Lady
\nAngela Nwaka, Aniocha South, Mr. Uzoma Idabor, Aniocha North, Hon. Isaac
\nUlebor, Ika South, Hon. Tim Owhefere–Isoko North, Barr. Orezi Esievo,
\nIsoko South Constituency I, Hon. Johnson Erijo, Isoko South Constituency
\n11, Hon. Peter Onwusanya–Oshimili South, Hon. Pat Ajudua Oshimili North,
\nErhiatake Ibori, Ethiope West, Comrade Izeze Rume Reuben, Ughelli South,
\nSamuel Mariere, Ughelli North I, Prince Eric Oharisi, Ughelli North II,
\nOlorogun Barr Arthur Akpowowo, Ethiope East and Chief Sheriff Oborevwori,
\nOkpe.<\/p>\n
Others are Efe Ofobruku, Uvwie, Hon. Godwin Toristseju Abigor, Warri South
\nConstituency I, Hon. Denis Omovie, Warri South Constituency 11, Hon.
\nDaniel Mayuku, Warri South West, Hon. Dan Yingi, Burutu Constituency 1,
\nHon. Kennedy Daubry, Burutu Constituency II, Hon. Monday Igbuya Sapele,
\nHon. Azuka Azaka Ndokwa West, Hon. Alphonsus Ojo Ukwuani and Mr. Pius
\nLabo, Bomadi
\nSenator Ifeanyi Okowa clinched Ika North East and Warri North with Mr.
\nTony Elekeokwuri and Chief Michael Diden claiming the tickets
\nrespectively, while Ndudi Elumelu\u2019s campaign manager, Chief Moses Odibo
\nwon in Udu and Godswill Obielum taking Ndokwa East with Friday Osanebi
\npicking the ticket.<\/p>\n
All the other governorship aspirants were defeated in their various local
\ngovernments including Hon. Victor Ochie, Prof. Sylvester Monye and Chief
\nNdudi Elumelu whose candidates lost to Uzoma Idabor in Aniocha North local
\ngovernment.
\nOne unconfirmed reports say that some of the aspirants are already
\nnegotiating with the Obuh camp with the possibility of stepping down for
\nTony Obuh in the forthcoming governorship primary set to hold on December
