The senate leader, senator Victor Ndoma-Egba, yesterday suffered a
\nhumiliating defeat at the Peoples Democratic Party PDP senatorial
\nprimaries for the Cross River Central Senatorial District.<\/p>\n
Ndoma-Egba lost to his challenger, Hon. John Owan Enoh, Chairman of the
\nHouse of Representatives Committee on Appropriation.<\/p>\n
In what could be regarded as a landslide, Hon. Owan-Enoh trounced his
\nchallenger by garnering 217 votes as against a 37 votes for the Senate
\nLeader.<\/p>\n
Egbe Mark who came third, polled 20 votes.<\/p>\n
Ndoma-Egba was seeking a return to the senate for the fourth time.<\/p>\n
The result was announced by the returning officer, Uko Inaku.<\/p>\n
The primaries for the Southern Senatorial District was still ongoing as of
\npress time.Rose Oko, a member of the House of Representatives also won the
\nticket for the Northern Senatorial District.<\/p>\n
The results of the primaries for the House of representatives which took
\nplace a day earlier also saw the defeat of several of the incumbents from
\nthe state.<\/p>\n
Honourable Nkoyo Toyo of Odukpani\/Calabar Municipal Federal Constituency
\nwas defeated by her challenger, Ntufam Etta Mbora, Hon. Chris Eta of
\nIkom\/Boki Federal Constituency was defeated by Mr. Chris Adibe.<\/p>\n
However, Hon. Bassey Ewa of Abi\/Yakurr Federal Constituency and Daniel
\nAsuquo of Akamkpa\/Biase secured a return tickets.<\/p>\n
Other winners include Mr. Jarigbe Agom of Ogoja\/Yala Federal Constituency and
\nBarrister Legor Idagbo of Bekwarra, Obanlikwu\/Obudu Federal Constituency.<\/p>\n
