The ruling People\u2019s Democratic Party, (PDP) Appeal committee on Senate and House of Representatives primaries has thrown out the petition filed by the Senate\u00a0committee<\/span>\u00a0Chairman on Water Resources, Senator Heineken Lokpobiri on the outcome of last Sunday\u2019s Bayelsa West Senatorial District Primary held at the auditorium of the Bayelsa State College of Education, Sagbama, arguing that there was no parallel primary as claimed by the petitioner.<\/div>\n

In the committee\u2019s report signed by Barrister Bashir Maidugu, Hon. Michael Uba Obande and Jennifer Madueke, Chairman, Secretary and\u00a0member respectively<\/span>, of the PDP National Assembly Primary Appeal\u2019s Committee, it described the conduct of the petitioner-Senator Lokpobiri as unbecoming and, therefore, recommended appropriate sanctions or reprimand to deter others from such despicable conduct.<\/span><\/div>\n
Commending the leadership of the party in the state and the security agents for the peaceful conduct of the primaries, the report stated that there were no parallel primaries in any of the Federal Constituencies and Senatorial Districts in the State.<\/span><\/div>\n
The report reads in part, \u2018in the Bayelsa West Senatorial primary, all contestants participated with delegates duly accredited and\u00a0voting including<\/span>\u00a0the Governor and almost all statutory delegates who are leaders of the Party.<\/span><\/div>\n
\u2018A serving Senator, Senator Heineken Lokpobiri, who came while results had been announced, regrettably stormed out and organized thugs and other non delegates to purportedly declare himself as the winner of the primaries.<\/span><\/div>\n
\u2018The Committee is of the view that, his conduct is unbecoming of a Distinguished Senator of the Federal Republic and a party leader, who had had the privilege of flying the party\u2019s flag and representing his people twice prior to now and who, therefore is expected to exhibit\u00a0greater respect<\/span>\u00a0for the democratic processes of our party.<\/span><\/div>\n
\u2018The committee recommends that appropriate sanction or reprimand should follow to deter others from such despicable conduct. \u00a0<\/span><\/div>\n
