The All Progressives Congress (APC) has raised the alarm over the antics<\/p>\n
of a certain political party that has engaged in buying Permanent Voter\u2019s
\nCards (PVCs) with a view to disenfranchising the owners of such cards,
\nespecially in opposition strongholds.<\/p>\n
In a statement issued in Lagos on Friday by its National Publicity
\nSecretary, Alhaji Lai Mohammed, the party said while such purchased PVCs
\nmay not be transferable, those who are buying them are doing so to reduce
\nthe votes in the opposition strongholds and improve the chances of their
\nown party at the polls.<\/p>\n
\u201dWe appeal to our supporters in particular and all Nigerians in general
\nnot to sell their PVCs, because this will amount to mortgaging the future
\nof their children just because of a paltry 1,000 Naira,\u201d it said. \u201dYour
\nvoter\u2019s card is your power to help forge the much-needed positive change
\nin our country. Protect it!\u201d<\/p>\n
Meanwhile, the APC has urged all its members and supporters who are yet to
\ncollect their PVCs and register to vote to do so urgently, saying they
\nshould visit their local government headquarters for the two exercises.<\/p>\n
The party said while distribution of the cards and the continuos
\nregistration at the polling units may have ended, both exercises are still
\nongoing at the local government headquarters until Jan. 31st 2015,
\naccording to the assurances given by INEC.<\/p>\n
\u201dWe have been assured by INEC that all those who registered will get their
\nPVCs and the chance to vote in the 2015 general elections. We are
\ntherefore appealing to all our members and supporters who have not
\ncollected their cards to immediately proceed to their local government
\nheadquarters to collect them,\u201d it said.<\/p>\n
