United States said on Friday in Abuja that it remained committed to
\nhelping the Federal Government in tackling the threat of Boko Haram and
\nother extremist organisations to the country.<\/p>\n
This is contained in a statement issued by the Public Affairs Department
\nembassy in Nigeria.<\/p>\n
It said the U.S. government has also restated its commitment to support
\nNigeria\u2019s efforts to\u201d rescue the abducted Chibok girls and all others who
\nhave been abducted in various communities\u201d.<\/p>\n
It particularly condemned in the strongest terms the attack on Gumsuri
\nvillage, Borno , which was reported to have been perpetrated by Boko
\nHaram.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe are aware of reports from persons who fled the scene of the attack
\nthat suspected Boko Haram gunmen kidnapped more than 100 women and
\nchildren and killed 35 people.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe abhor such violence, which continues to take a terrible toll on the
\npeople of Nigeria, and we extend our condolences to the victims and their
\nfamilies.<\/p>\n
\u201cBoko Haram has shown no regard for human life,\u201d it said.<\/p>\n
It expressed concerns that this year alone, Boko Haram had murdered
\nthousands of innocent people in vicious attacks on schools, churches, and
\nmosques.<\/p>\n
According to the statement, Boko Haram attacks have resulted in
\ndisplacement of hundreds of thousands of Nigerians. (NAN)<\/p>\n
