The Department for State Security Services (DSS) on Wednesday<\/p>\n
displayed cloned Permanent Voters Card (PVC) allegedly produced by the All
\nProgressive Congress (APC) in readiness to rig the the February 2015
\nelections.<\/p>\n
The APC was also said to have clandestinely registered under aged voters,
\nbabies, infants and even security operatives as well as foreigners as its
\nmembers at a building in no 10, Bola Ajibola street, Ikeja, Lagos state.<\/p>\n
At a press briefing, spokesperson of the DSS, Marilyn Ogar said
\nthat all arrested suspects have been chaged to court while investigation
\nis still ongoing to get to the root of the matter and bring all culprits
\nto book.
\n“A building located at No. 10, Bola Ajibola Street, Ikeja, Lagos, was
\nbeing used for cloning of INEC Permanent Voters Card (PVC) by some
\nunscrupulous persons with intent to hack into INEC database, corrupt it
\nand replace same with their own data;<\/p>\n
“That upon receiving the said report, the Service immediately took
\nappropriate steps to investigate same by first seeking and obtaining a
\nsearch warrant as required by law. This is contrary to claims by the APC
\nthat the building was accessed illegally. On arriving at the building at
\nNo. 10, Bola Ajibola Street, Ikeja, Lagos, Officers of this Service found
\nthat the building did not have the signpost, banner or flag of any company
\nor political party;<\/p>\n
“In the course of investigation, the following discoveries were made:
\nA temporary Voters Card; A Permanent Voters Card; In one of the hard
\ndrives is a video of twenty-one (21) hacking tutorials. The tutorial video
\nfocused on the following areas:<\/p>\n
“‎How to become a hacker and steps to take to avoid detection in the
\nprocess of hacking web servers;<\/p>\n
Steps and procedures of system hacking, passwords cracking, decrypting,
\nescalating access privileges, and creating backdoors to servers;<\/p>\n
“It also explicitly explained how to evade security of databases such as
\nIntrusion Detection Systems (IDS), firewalls, and other measures put in
\nplace to deter hackers;<\/p>\n
“‎The video outlined ways to identify vulnerabilities in systems and
\nhow to surreptitiously drop a USB flash drive in a target establishment,
\nwhich when plugged into any computer, transmits malicious codes enough to
\ngain access into and compromise the entire system of the target
\norganization; and<\/p>\n
“Finally, the video explains how to hack into the systems of media houses,
\nwith the aim of broadcasting fake stories or headlines.<\/p>\n
“It was also discovered that the APC registered under-aged persons
\nincluding several infants and babies as members of the party. We know that
\nArticle 9.1 of the APC Party Constitution expressly says: \u201cmembership of
\nthe party shall be open to any citizen of Nigeria who has attained the age
\nof eighteen (18) years and accepts the aims and objectives of the Party\u2026\u201d<\/p>\n
“Similarly, the APC registered several security personnel from the
\nNigerian Army (NA), the Nigeria Police Force (NPF), Nigeria Customs
\nService (NCS), Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Federal
\nRoad Safety Corps (FRSC) among others, in their uniforms as members of the
\nparty;<\/p>\n
“Furthermore the APC had multiple registrations of individuals in
\nmultiples of 16, 12, and 10; Several foreigners were also registered as
\nits members;<\/p>\n
“Also, the APC filled forms without passport photographs, and have books
\ncontaining names of people with their phone numbers; Equally discovered
\nwere several envelopes containing passport photographs of various
\nindividuals;<\/p>\n
” From the foregoing, we suspect that there was an elaborate and well
\narticulated plan to inflate the Party\u2019s membership data as well as hack
\ninto INEC\u2019s voter registration database through the creation of party
\nmembership forms and cards to match INEC\u2019s voters register across the
\ncountry.<\/p>\n
‎”Facts are sacred and opinion free. The arrested suspects have
\nsince been charged to Court, and at the moment investigation is still
\nongoing. We shall update the public of further developments. ” Ogar said.<\/p>\n
