The All Progressive Congress Presidential Campaign Organisation (APCPCO)<\/p>\n
has said that the claim by President Goodluck Jonathan that four years are
\nnot enough to transform the country is double-mouthing by a president who
\nhas failed to deliver on his own timeline.<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
A statement signed by the Director of Media and Publicity of the APCPCO,
\nMallam Garba Shehu on Tuesday, said:<\/p>\n
“It is very imprudent of Mr. President to shift the goal post mounted by
\nhim in the middle of the game.<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
“It was this same President Jonathan who said in 2010 that if he could not
\nimprove on the country\u2019s power generation capacity within four years, then
\nit means he could not do anything.<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
“What was the president thinking about when he said: \u2018Four years are
\nenough for anyone to make significant improvement, and if I can\u2019t improve
\non power within this period, then it means I cannot do anything.\u2019<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
“Nigerians expect that a president must own up to his own words and be
\nresponsible for his own beliefs.<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
“There can only be one reason why President Jonathan is changing his own
\nbeliefs about what it takes to transform the country and that is because
\nhe is incompetent for the job.<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
“Today, Nigerians are clamouring for change because, for six years the
\ncountry has been led by a president who cannot give the people direction
\non how to stop corruption, how to provide security, create employment and
\nprovide infrastructure that will impact positively on the economy.<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
“We have said it in the past and we will be repeating it that the 2015
\nelection, more than anything is a referendum on the performance of
\nPresident Jonathan. The President has not measured up to the least
\nexpectations of Nigerians and that is why they are earnestly waiting for
\nFebruary 14 to pass their verdict.<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
“Whereas the Goodluck Jonathan administration has not been able to deliver
\non any of the promises the president made to Nigerians in 2010, the
\ngovernment under the President\u2019s watch has surpassed every known
\nboundaries on issues of corruption and impunity.<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
“Let us remind the president that if truly Rome was not built in a day,
\nRome is also not built forever. The President has failed to deliver by his
\nown timelines and he should patiently wait for Nigerians to pass their
\nverdict over the incompetence of his administration,\u201d Shehu said.<\/p>\n
