Bayelsa State Governor, Hon.\u00a0Seriake<\/span>\u00a0Dickson over the weekend established a Women Development Centre as well as reconstituted the board for the Youth Development Centre dedicated to their empowerment.<\/span><\/div>\n
Inaugurating the Directors General and members of the\u00a0Centres<\/span>\u00a0for Women and Youth Development in Yenagoa, Governor Dickson said, the responsibilities of the boards include the mobilization and development of youths towards contributing their quota to society.\u00a0 \u00a0<\/span><\/div>\n
To this end, he directed the leadership of the youth\u00a0centre<\/span>\u00a0to furnish his office with a blueprint on the various training\u00a0programmes<\/span>\u00a0it is expected to run, noting that, government has already constructed a befitting youthcentre<\/span>\u00a0located at Kaiama, Kolokuma\/Opokuma local government area of the state.<\/span><\/div>\n
Governor Dickson, who said the\u00a0centre<\/span>\u00a0has the capacity to accommodate one thousand youths, remarked that thecentre<\/span>\u00a0was equipped with modern facilities for their training and re-orientation.<\/span><\/div>\n
According to him, the\u00a0centre<\/span>\u00a0will enjoy government\u2019s financial support as well as retain consultants that, would collaborate with the\u00a0centre<\/span>\u00a0to organize periodic seminars and workshops for empowerment of the youths.<\/span><\/div>\n
On the Women development Centre, Governor Dickson explained that, the\u00a0centre<\/span>\u00a0was expected to partner with other relevant agencies towards addressing social issues affecting women.<\/span><\/div>\n
He said, the Director General and members of the\u00a0centre<\/span>\u00a0were expected to work closely with women leaders across the state in collating data about women and their businesses in all the communities as well as the social challenges facing them.<\/span><\/div>\n
Governor Dickson also disclosed that, a micro-finance bank would be established soon, adding that, the government has already secured a provisional license for it.<\/span><\/div>\n
Giving thumbs up for the hardworking women of the state, the Governor noted that 90% of them were bread winners of their families and stressed the need to support them in their role in nurturing society.<\/span><\/div>\n
Responding, the Director General of the Centre for Women Development, Barr. Eunice\u00a0Akene<\/span>\u00a0and her youth counterpart, Mr. Victor Okubonanabo expressed gratitude to the Governor for their appointments and pledged their commitment towards the actualization of the set goals.<\/span><\/div>\n
