PRESIDENT Goodluck Jonathan has said he deserved re-election because it is<\/p>\n

only his administration that has programmes for a progressive future for
\nNigeria.<\/p>\n

Addressing a mammoth crowd of Deltans and other Nigerians who turned out
\nfor the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Presidential rally in Asaba, Delta
\nState yesterday (04\/02\/2015), the President stated that his administration
\nbelieved in the unity of Nigeria and a country which will take its pride
\nof place in the comity of nations.<\/p>\n

According to him, his administration has empowered Nigerian youths and
\nprovided programmes that will position the youths and women for future
\nchallenges.<\/p>\n

While noting that Delta State through his administration\u2019s efforts is
\nplaying host to the first Maritime University in Africa, the President
\nalso, stated that the state was host to a 16 billion dollar gas city
\nproject which would generate employment opportunities for Delta youths and
\nNigerians.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe want to make sure that our people go to school that is why we are
\nbuilding the Maritime University in the state, the first in Africa, we are
\nalso building the 16 billion dollars gas city in the state, the biggest
\noil and gas investment in Africa,\u201d the President said, asserting, \u201cthe
\nMaritime University will train our youths to take the rightful place in
\nthe Maritime Industry in the world while the Gas City project will provide
\nemployment for our teeming youths.\u201d<\/p>\n

He reiterated that the programmes were designed for Nigerian youths to be
\nequipped for the future, disclosing that his administration has also,
\nempowered those who are in the entertainment industry who were ignored
\nbefore his administration came into office.<\/p>\n

President Jonathan who used the occasion of the visit to the state to
\ncommission an ultra-modern Government House constructed by Governor
\nEmmanuel Uduaghan\u2019s administration, praised the Governor for being
\npeople-oriented in his programmes and policies.<\/p>\n

He urged Deltans and Nigerians in general to vote massively for the PDP in
\nthe elections, stating that there is no other political party that is
\nthinking and working towards a more united and developed Nigeria than the
\nPDP.<\/p>\n

The Vice-President, Arch. Namadi Sambo at the rally said, re-electing
\nPresident Goodluck Jonathan would be in tune with modern trend where
\nleaders of countries are less than sixty years of age.<\/p>\n

He stated that President Jonathan has to a large extent, addressed the
\nissue of power and has revived the railway lines while the Chairman of the
\nPDP, Dr Adamu Muazu thanked President for his commitment to the unity of
\nNigeria.<\/p>\n

Also, Mrs Patience Jonathan urged the women in particular to vote for
\nPresident Jonathan stating that the President has given the women voice in
\nhis administration and there is no other President who will empower women
\nand youths more than President Jonathan.<\/p>\n

Governor Uduaghan assured the President of the votes of all Deltans for
\nthe PDP noting that President Jonathan deserves re-election because of the
\nsuccess of his human capital development programmes which has seen
\nNigerian youths excelling in sports, entertainment, education, among other
\nfields.<\/p>\n

The Governor stated that Deltans were among the greatest beneficiaries of
\nthe Human Capital Development programmes of the President because \u201cmore
\nthan 80 per cent of those in the entertainment industry \u2013 actors,
\ncomedians, musicians, and those in sports are from Delta State that is why
\nour girls won gold medals at the Commonwealth games.\u201d<\/p>\n

Others who spoke at the occasion include the PDP governorship candidate in
\nDelta State, Senator Ifeanyi Okowa, Governor of Cross Rivers State,
\nSenator Liyel Imoke, his Bayelsa State counterpart, Mr Seriake Dickson,
\nformer Governor of Anambra State, Mr Peter Obi, former Chairman of the
\nPDP, Senator Ahmadu Ali, Minister of Finance, Dr Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, the
\nMinister of Niger Delta Affairs, Elder Steve Oru, urged Deltans in
\nparticular to vote for PDP.<\/p>\n
