Delta State Governor Dr. Emmanuel Uduaghan has commissioned the 7.8
\nkilometres Umunede-Mbiri Road Rehabilitation, promising to continue to
\ndeliver democracy dividends to the people of the state.<\/p>\n
Addressing the audience which included traditional rulers, palace chiefs,
\npolitical leaders and stakeholders, the governor said that \u201cthe road will
\nimprove inter-city road transportation, enhance urban growth,
\ncommunication and reinvigorate commerce and social life in the area.\u201d.<\/p>\n
\u2018\u2019We constructed this road to take people safely to their destination,
\nwhen you are drunk, don\u2019t drive, when you are feeling sleepy, don\u2019t drive
\nand when you take drugs, please don\u2019t drive, by God\u2019s grace this road will
\ntake us to our destination\u2019\u2019 Gov Uduaghan added.<\/p>\n
The governor who said the Mbiri farm settlement road was dear to his heart
\npromised to complete it and other projects in the area before he leaves
\noffice.<\/p>\n
Gov Uduaghan enjoined the people of the area to vote massively for
\nPresident Goodluck Jonathan, Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa and other PDP candidates in
\nthe senatorial district, reminding them that they should endeavour to
\ncollect their Permanent Voters\u2019 Card (PVC) on which basis they can vote at
\nthe polls.<\/p>\n
\u2018I hope you have all collected your PVCs, please ensure you do that and
\nmake sure you vote massively for Mr. President, Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa your son
\nand all the other PDP candidates in Delta North\u2019\u2019.<\/p>\n
In his welcome address the Commissioner for Works Mr. Funkekeme Solomon
\nsaid that the Umunede-Mbiri road project was awarded in October 2014 at a
\ncost of 497.12 million naira and was meant to serve as a link road between
\nUmunede, Mbiri town, Mbiri farm settlement and Delta and Edo States
\nboundary.
\nEarlier during a courtesy visit to the Obi of Mbiri, HRM Obi Dr.<\/p>\n
Ifeanyichukwu Alekwe II, Dr. Emmanuel Uduaghan commended the unity amongst
\ntraditional rulers in Delta State and urged their subjects to emulate them
\nso that development can come to their areas.<\/p>\n
According to him, \u2018The presence of other traditional rulers shows the
\nunity among traditional rulers, that is a lesson to all of us who are your
\nsubjects because if our royal fathers are united then of course the
\nsubjects become united and we have no cause to be divided\u2019\u2019.<\/p>\n
The governor who explained that the road to the farm settlement was being
\ndelayed due to the need to redesign it promised that the road and the one
\nleading to the palace would be completed before the end of the
\nadministration.<\/p>\n
HRM, Obi Dr. Alekwe II commended Dr. Uduaghan for keeping his promise to
\nrehabilitate and reseal the Umunede-Mbiri road and assured the governor of
\nthe support of his people as well as the protection of all government
