The Nigeria Prosperity Project (NPP) has urged former President
\nOlusegun Obasanjo to stop over-heating the already charged political
\natmosphere and offer useful services as a patriot and statesman that
\nNigeria can rely on in times of trouble.
\nThe non- governmental organisation decried Obasanjo\u2019s unrelenting
\nattacks on President Goodluck Jonathan and his administration by the
\nformer president, saying “this is uncalled for and unbecoming of a
\nstatesman.
\nNational Coordinator of the NPP, Mr. Louis Ebodaghe said Obasanjo has
\nno moral justification to descend so low in his continuous tirades and
\nunnecessary outburst.
\nThe group noted that Obasanjo is
\nmerely an envious former leader who is uncomfortable with the
\nachievements of President Jonathan.
\nUnder Jonathan’s administration, the coordinator pointed out that 12
\nnew federal universities have been built, nine in the North and only
\nthree in the south.
\nAccording to the group, “during the eight years rule of Obasanjo\/Atiku
\nAbubakar administration, they built only two private universities;
\nBells University in Abeokuta, Ogun state for Obasanjo and ABATI
\nUniversity in Yola, Adamawa state for Atiku.
\nThe group noted that
\nPresident Jonathan more than anything needs commendation and support
\nto take the nation to the next level.
\nEbodaghe added that “no matter the level of misgivings, the facts
\neloquently speak for themselves. The development strides of President
\nJonathan\u2019s administration are on ground and verifiable. People may
\nhave different motives, but Nigeria and Nigerians desires meaningful
\ndevelopment which Jonathan represents\u201d.
\nHe sad the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) postponed
\nthe general elections from February 14 to March 28 because of the
\nsecurity challenges in parts of the country and the fact that millions
\nof Nigerians were yet to collect their permanent voter cards.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
