of the Nigeria Consensus Group otherwise known as Project Nigeria Movement
\nare set to interface with the two leading presidential candidates in the
\n2015 elections; Dr Good luck Jonathan and General Muhammadu Buhari on
\ntheir plans for the political restructuring of Nigeria<\/p>\n
Addressing the press in Lagos on Wednesday, Olawale Okunniyi; spokesperson
\nof the coalition of eminent persons and activists said the initiative to
\nproperly scrutinize the candidates has suddenly become imperative for the
\nmovement to affirm its alignment and wield its influence based on
\nprinciples and strong conviction that the aspirants will be resolutely
\ncommitted to democratic federalism<\/p>\n
“Since the extension of the 2015 elections, our leadership has come under
\nintense pressure from both associates and key players in the ongoing
\nelectoral process to take a stand and tilt its influence one way or the
\nother
\nThis has triggered a series of informal consultations expected to dovetail
\ninto a major national agenda setting parley initially slated to hold on
\n3rd of March but now rescheduled to hold in the second week of March for
\nstrategic reasons ”<\/p>\n
The group also informed that its initial consultations have already
\nobserved the possibility of a nation wide imbroglio in the aftermath of
\nthe 2015 elections, which, according to the body, can only be nipped by a
\n“credible Coalition Government of National Unity formed basically to
\ninitiate an elected Constituent Assembly for the restructuring of Nigeria
\nalong the lines of democratic federalism for constitutional democracy and
\npopular governance to thrive in Nigeria”<\/p>\n
Okunniyi, however expressed hope that both Dr. Goodluck Jonathan and
\nGeneral Mohammadu Buhari will be available, cooperative and submit
\nthemselves to the impartial scrutiny of these leaders of thought and
\nleading political activists in the country to enable the body make popular
\nintervention on the 2015 elections<\/p>\n
“Already penciled down by the secretariat of the movement for crucial
\nroles and support to the leader of Project Nigeria, Prof Ben Nwabueze in
\nthis historic engagement are; Chief Olisa Agbakoba, SAN, Dr Kunle Olajide,
\nChief Mike Ozekwome, SAN, Alhaji Shettimah Yerima, Mrs Ayo Obe, Mallam
\nNaseer Kura, Malam Tanko Yinusa among fifteen others” the body hinted<\/p>\n
