{"id":36455,"date":"2015-02-27T10:43:27","date_gmt":"2015-02-27T09:43:27","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/pointblanknews.com\/pbn\/?p=36455"},"modified":"2015-02-27T10:44:15","modified_gmt":"2015-02-27T09:44:15","slug":"presidency-northern-elders-council-endorses-jonathan-vp-sambo-hails-decision","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/pointblanknews.com\/pbn\/exclusive\/presidency-northern-elders-council-endorses-jonathan-vp-sambo-hails-decision\/","title":{"rendered":"Presidency: Northern Elders Council Endorses Jonathan; VP Sambo Hails Decision"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Vice President Arc Mohammed Namadi Sambo has told the Northern Elders<\/p>\n<p>Council that they have taken a wise decision by endorsing the re-election<br \/>\nbid of President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan for a second term in the March 28<br \/>\npresidential election.<\/p>\n<p>The Vice President expressed delight with the show of love and support by<br \/>\nthe Northern Elders Council, under the Chairmanship of Elder Statesman,<br \/>\nAlhaji Tanko Yakasai, when they paid him a courtesy visit today at the<br \/>\nState House, Abuja.<\/p>\n<p>He said &#8220;I want to thank you very much for this endorsement and coming<br \/>\nthis election, we pray that we have a successful and peaceful election.<br \/>\nMr. President is succeeding in curbing the spate of insurgency in the<br \/>\nNorth-east, let us support him. I thank you for this endorsement and God<br \/>\nbless all of you.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Arc Sambo informed the elders that the PDP and Mr. President have been<br \/>\ntransforming Nigeria, stressing that there was nothing like change that<br \/>\nexist anymore, adding that with the wealth of experience of President<br \/>\nJonathan and himself they have delivered on their campaign promise in<br \/>\n2011, which was to transform the country positively, through their<br \/>\nTransformation Agenda, which spanned over power supply, transportation,<br \/>\nagriculture, education, security, tackling corruption and corrupt<br \/>\npractices among others.<\/p>\n<p>The Vice President noted that the APC manifesto was faulty, saying &#8220;If<br \/>\nyou look at the APC manifesto, one area that you will know that there is<br \/>\nsomething wrong is that they said they will create one million jobs<br \/>\nannually, but we have 1.4 million jobs annually that comes up, so if you<br \/>\nproduce only 1 million jobs, what about the 400,000 thousand, who will<br \/>\ngive them the job?&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>He therefore said &#8220;let us all go back to our states and inform the people<br \/>\ncorrectly, let them know that the right direction to go is to give Mr.<br \/>\nPresident and myself the chance to continue to move this country forward.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Earlier the Chairman of the Northern Elders Council, Elder statesman,<br \/>\nAlhaji Tanko Yakasai said the NEC have declared their full support for the<br \/>\nre-election of President Goodluck Jonathan and Vice President Arc<br \/>\nMohammed Namadi Sambo in the March 28, 2015, because they offer the best<br \/>\nprospects for continuous and sustained development, peace, unity and<br \/>\nstability of the country.<\/p>\n<p>He said that despite the numerous social and security challenges,<br \/>\nPresident Jonathan through his resilience, steadfastness, and patriotism<br \/>\ncompeted with his focused leadership has held the country together, while<br \/>\nalso matching the country to greater heights through the faithful<br \/>\nimplementation of the administration&#8217;s Transformation Agenda.<\/p>\n<p>He said that the Council acknowledges the administration&#8217;s remarkable<br \/>\ndevelopment of the Northern part of the country, particularly in the<br \/>\nconstruction of over 120 Almajiri Schools, Girl Child Schools in 13<br \/>\nstates, nine new universities, massive dam and irrigation projects,<br \/>\nexpansion of railways and numerous projects.<\/p>\n<p>He also disclosed that the NEC was particularly delighted with the synergy<br \/>\nbetween the President and Vice President Sambo, whom they described as<br \/>\n&#8220;our distinguished son and leader.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Present at the meeting were the Ministers of Foreign Affairs, Amb. Aminu<br \/>\nWali, that of Special Duties, Alhaji Tanimu Turaki and Transport, Senator<br \/>\nIdris Umar. Others include the former national chairman of the PDP, Dr.<br \/>\nBello Haliru Mohammed and Dr. Hassan Adamu (Wakilin Adamawa).
