Schools administrators in Ekiti State have been advised to look inward
\nand get other stakeholders like alumni associations and community
\nphilanthropists involved in their quests for infrastructural
\ndevelopment in their schools rather than over-depending on government
\nalone to provide all that schools need.<\/p>\n
Ekiti State Deputy Governor, Dr. Kolapo Olusola gave the advice during
\na visit to Iworoko Community High school, Iworoko-Ekiti to monitor the
\nState government-sponsored Intervention Programme on English and
\nMathematics for SS3 students in the state.<\/p>\n
The Deputy Governor who was conducted round the school by the
\nPrincipal, Mr Olu Adeniyi to inspect the dilapidated examination hall
\nand some parts of the school land which had been encroached, said that
\nparents have roles to play in the process of imparting knowledge to
\ntheir children.<\/p>\n
He called on parents and other stakeholders such as old students and
\nother well-meaning individuals and groups in and around the host
\ncommunity to cooperate with the government and be ready to support the
\nefforts of the government to turn around the structures in schools.<\/p>\n
Dr. Olusola stressed that the poor financial situation of the state
\ngovernment and the huge debt inherited by the Fayose administration
\nfrom the immediate past government had been a clog in the wheels of
\ninfrastructural development of the state.<\/p>\n
He assured that government would continue to do its best at raising
\nthe standard of education in the state.<\/p>\n
While addressing some of the SS3 students he met in the school, Dr.
\nOlusola counseled them on the need to study hard in order to attain
\nsuccess in this year’s national examinations.<\/p>\n
Earlier, the Principal Mr. Olu Adeniyi had solicited for the
\nassistance of government in the rehabilitation of the school’s
\ndilapidated examination hall and the construction of the perimeter
\nfencing of the school to curtail the incessant encroachment on the
