No fewer than 5,000 members from the All Progressives Grand Alliance APGA,<\/p>\n
in Anambra State have defected to the People\u2019s Democratic Party, PDP,
\nsaying that the decision was informed by the undemocratic posture of the
\nleadership of the party.<\/p>\n
Mrs. Uche Ekwunife, a former APGA State Women Leader, while receiving the
\n5000 former members of APGA into PDP, applauded their bold step, stating
\nthat the PDP is the only political party that accommodates the interest of
\nthe Ndigbo and is capable of developing the South East parts of the
\ncountry.<\/p>\n
Among those who defected to PDP where the aggrieved chairmanship and
\ncouncillorship aspirants whose names were allegedly exchanged with those
\nthat did not contest in the party primaries.<\/p>\n
At a mammoth rally held in Agulu, at Agulu at Anaocha Local Government
\nAreas, Mr. Peter Obi\u2019s home town, all the executive members of Obi\u2018s
\ncabinet also joined the PDP as well as the Director General of Governor
\nWillie Obiano\u2019s Campaign Organization, Barrister Jeo Martins Uzodike.<\/p>\n
Ekwunife, who also spoke during the rally organized by the former members
\nof APGA in honour of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP senatorial
\ncandidate for Anambra central senatorial zone, said they decided to dump
\nthe party due to noticeable ills bedeviling the party.<\/p>\n
Mrs. Edith Nwokedi, a former APGA member, said that with the recent
\ndevelopment in the party, they opted to defect to the PDP which she
\ndescribed as the mainstream of Nigerian politics.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe decided to dump APGA because it has become very clear that the party
\nhas no vision and has lost its value.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe leadership of the party has been seriously bastardized and we have
\nalso seen in Mrs. Uche Ekwunife, the passion to bring developmental
\nstrides to the people of the zone.<\/p>\n
The former Director General of Governor Willie Obiano campaign
\norganization, Chief Joe-Martins Uzodike, in his remarks said the
\nleadership of APGA had made the people of the state to lose interest in
\nthe party, hence the mass defection.<\/p>\n
He said the persistent crisis rocking the party, was too toxic to stay
\nconnected to and as a result, they decided to move to another party that
\nhad the interest of the people at heart, which is the PDP.<\/p>\n
