The Delta State Government has denied media reports that the Presidential
\nand National Assembly results have been released.<\/p>\n
A statement signed by the state Commissioner for Information, Barrister
\nChike Ogeah noted with dismay that online reports have already been
\ncirculated when the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC and
\nParty agents are yet to sign off on any results.<\/p>\n
He advised the genial public to disregard any report that did not emanate
\nfrom INEC and duly signed by party agents.<\/p>\n
The Statement reads:<\/p>\n
Re: Preliminary independently collated presidential results<\/p>\n
The attention of the Delta State Government has been drawn to a story on
\nSaharareporters website where it was claimed that collation of results for
\nthe presidential election has been concluded in the state. Writing under
\nthe headline “preliminary independently collated presidential results”
\nwhere it ran a table of results purportedly from all the states,
\nSaharareporters claimed that the All Progressive Congress (APC) scored
\n5,331 votes in the presidential poll while the People’s Democratic Party
\n(PDP) secured 205,256 votes.<\/p>\n
This report is utterly false and should be seen as the product of armchair
\njournalism by Saharareporters. The fact of the matter is that as at 5.30
\npm today, Monday, March 30, 2015, results from only 11 out of the 25 local
\ngovernment areas in Delta State had been collated. The collation of
\nresults is still in progress. This should not come as a surprise given the
\nchallenging terrain in the state where many local councils are in the
\nriverine areas.<\/p>\n
The INEC office in Asaba will forward the result to its headquarters in
\nAbuja when the results are collated.<\/p>\n
