Dr. Dakuku Peterside, governorship candidate of the All Progressives
\nCongress, APC in Rivers State has assured every adult of voting age of
\nmaximum protection during the April 11 gubernatorial election in the
\nstate.<\/p>\n
Peterside who made the declaration in Abuloma during a town hall
\nmeeting, told the people to take solace in the fact that all forms of
\npersecution, intimidation and threat to their lives will soon be a thing
\nof the past because Nigeria has changed for the better.<\/p>\n
He said that those who unleashed violence and mayhem on the people of
\nRivers State during the March 28 Presidential and National Assembly
\nelections are already aware of a new Nigeria that abhors lawlessness and
\nimpunity.<\/p>\n
The APC candidate therefore called on the people to come out and
\nparticipate fully in the all-important process of electing the next
\ngovernor of the state come Saturday April 11.<\/p>\n
\u201cI am sure everybody remembered what happened on March 28. They used
\nthe army, police, SSS and militants, seized result sheets and hijacked
\nballot boxes. They also arrested many people all to favour PDP.<\/p>\n
\u201cBut God had a different plan. Despite the intimidation and stuffing
\nof ballot boxes, God said it was not time for Goodluck Jonathan to
\ncontinue in office. God said he wanted Buhari, can any of us challenge
\nGod?<\/p>\n
\u201cAfter that election, the spirit of Commander-in-Chief changed.
\nEverybody now looks forward to a new Commander-in-Chief, a new person
\nwho will command the Army, Navy, Air force, SSS and Police. If anybody
\ntoday calls the Army and gives instructions to intimidate innocent
\npeople, there are chances that they will not obey because if they obey,
\nin two months time, they will answer questions.<\/p>\n
\u201cIf anybody calls the police now to arrest you unjustly, the police
\nwill not obey because they know that there will be consequences in two
\nmonths. This is so because we have a new president who will protect
\nevery Nigerian. So be rest assured that nobody can harass or intimidate
\nyou again.<\/p>\n
\u201cTherefore the first assurance I want to give you today is that for
\nthe election of Saturday 11 April, there will be adequate security,
\nnobody can harass you. There will be enough soldiers, SSS and police
\nprotecting you so that you can cast your votes\u201d.<\/p>\n
