\u201c<\/span><\/span>Many\u00a0<\/span><\/span>achievers\u2026 will get bruised and scorched on the turfs of their ambitious quests. They will suffer worse privations but in putting up a\u00a0<\/span><\/span>defence<\/span><\/span>, in scheming to beat the most resourceful but equally ambitious competition and in removing all the seemingly insurmountable hurdles in their way, they end up generating a world of ideas and ingenuity that delectably take society to greater heights of achievements<\/span><\/span>\u201d, –\u00a0<\/span><\/span>Onome<\/span><\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/span>Osifo<\/span><\/span>\u00a0\u2013 Whiskey in NEWSWATCH magazine of 14 May, 1990.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

An interesting photograph was published on page 14\u00a0<\/span><\/span>of DAILY<\/span><\/span>\u00a0TRUST newspaper of Tuesday March 3, 2015. Strategically positioned by the right sid<\/span><\/span>e was a red-and-white umbrella branded \u2018PDP Volunteers\u2019 with the party\u2019s logo conspicuously displayed above. By the left was Vice Pr<\/span><\/span>esident\u00a0<\/span><\/span>Namadi<\/span><\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/span>Sambo<\/span><\/span>; at the cen<\/span><\/span>tre was President\u00a0<\/span><\/span>Goodluck<\/span><\/span>\u00a0Jonathan; by the right was the Vice Chairman of the Transformation Ambassadors of Nigeria (TAN) Dr.\u00a0<\/span><\/span>Ifeanyi<\/span><\/span>Ubah<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

\u200bThe photograph which highlights the flag-off of the PDP Ward Volunteers Scheme at the presidential Villa, Abuja the previous day, speaks volume<\/span><\/span>.<\/span><\/span>\u00a0Ordinarily, one would have seen someone other than\u00a0<\/span><\/span>Ifeanyi<\/span><\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/span>Uba<\/span><\/span>\u00a0standing next to His Ex<\/span><\/span>cellency, President Jonathan and his Vice<\/span><\/span>,\u00a0<\/span><\/span>Namadi<\/span><\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/span>Sambo\u00a0<\/span><\/span>at such a significant even<\/span><\/span>t.\u00a0<\/span><\/span>\u200b<\/p>\n

\u200bSo why\u00a0<\/span><\/span>was<\/span><\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/span>Ubah<\/span><\/span>, a<\/span><\/span>nd not any of the political high and mighty<\/span><\/span>\u00a0personalities or<\/span><\/span>\u00a0their ilk, right there by the P<\/span><\/span>resident\u2019s side at this August occasion? The reason is not too hard to decipher: even though\u00a0<\/span><\/span>he does not occupy\u00a0<\/span><\/span>any<\/span><\/span>\u00a0particular position at the executive or legislative arms of government,\u00a0<\/span><\/span>Ubah\u00a0<\/span><\/span>has, over the years, carved a niche for himself as one of the back-bones of the\u00a0<\/span><\/span>Goodluck<\/span><\/span>\u00a0Jonathan administration in terms of propagating the government\u2019s Transformation Agenda and underscoring the achievements of the gentleman TAN enthusiastically proclaims as Nigeria\u2019s most visionary and selfless leader.\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

\u200bAt the heart of this unprecedented campaign is, needless to say, the indomitable outfit known as Transformation Ambassadors of Nigeria (TAN). Essentially a non-partisan, non-religious and non-ethnic organization, TAN\u2019s core mission is to champion causes that are patriotic, noble, and beneficial to the generality of Nigerians on the one hand, and humanity on the other. Accordingly, when TAN subsequently identified the Transformation Agenda and the brain behind it as one of such noble team<\/span><\/span>, it<\/span><\/span>\u00a0promptly swung into action.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

\u200bIn the beginning, not many took TAN serious<\/span><\/span>.<\/span><\/span>\u00a0Rather, the majority\u00a0<\/span><\/span>saw it as a band of noise makers<\/span><\/span>\u00a0who, like many other such outf<\/span><\/span>its before them, would merely come, make\u00a0<\/span><\/span>their presence felt for a couple of months, glean some benefits\u00a0<\/span><\/span>alo<\/span><\/span>ng the line, and fizzle out. Had anyone told such people that given the fact<\/span><\/span>\u00a0that<\/span><\/span>\u00a0the brain behind TAN is not someone who ventures into a project only to chicken out when the ovation is loudest, they would probably have doubted him or her. But see what is going on now: not only has TAN weathered all the storms (includin<\/span><\/span>g teething problems, initial public skepticism, barbs and all<\/span><\/span>)<\/span><\/span>\u00a0it has gradually and steadily metamorphosed into one of the most formidable pressure groups of its ilk and arguable a trail blazer in grassroots mobilization.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

\u200bIndeed, from the barely heralded group\u00a0<\/span><\/span>which TAN was barely a few month\u00a0<\/span><\/span>ago, this nimbl<\/span><\/span>e \u2013 footed outfit has\u00a0<\/span><\/span>inexorablly<\/span><\/span>\u00a0carved a niche for itself in the nation\u2019s socio-political firmament as second to none in areas such as propagation of the ideals<\/span><\/span>,<\/span><\/span>\u00a0vision and achievements of the brand or cause they champion, loyalty and faithfulness to a cause, entity or personality, and, of course, massive mobilization of millions upon millions of the electorate.\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

\u200b\u201cWhat has electrified both TAN\u2019s proponents and opponents alike is the group\u2019s enviable ability to make indelible impact whenever it joins the fray and\/ or champions a cause\u201d, remarks a Lagos \u2013 based advertisement executive and researcher, Barrister Vincent\u00a0<\/span><\/span>Bolawole<\/span><\/span>.\u201d \u00a0Whether one shares their sentiments or not, one thing even their critics wouldn\u2019t\u00a0<\/span><\/span>hesistate<\/span><\/span>\u00a0to concede is that TAN as a group \u201csells\u201d its vision or products in a manner that elicits much excitement and exposure\u201d.\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

\u200bAccording to him, this is not too surprising given\u00a0<\/span><\/span>the level of passion and commitment which TAN\u2019s Vice Chairman,\u00a0Dr.\u00a0<\/span><\/span>Ifeanyi<\/span><\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/span>Ubah,\u00a0<\/span><\/span>has devoted to the project. \u201cLooking at the group and the impact it has made in such a relatively short period of time, it is evident that this proactive gentleman (<\/span><\/span>Ubah<\/span><\/span>) is not only devoted to the project but has somehow managed\u00a0<\/span><\/span>to transmit his passion and commitment to his hand-picked lieutenants\u201d, Barr.\u00a0<\/span><\/span>Bolawole<\/span><\/span>\u00a0added\u201d. This is all evident in the pacesetting way<\/span><\/span>\u00a0he<\/span><\/span>\u00a0has been going on with its campaign, standing out like an\u00a0<\/span><\/span>Iroko<\/span><\/span>\u00a0tree in terms of reach, impact, visibility, and the like. In a nutshell, TAN can be described as a socio \u2013 cultural or socio-political lobby group ahead of its time\u201d.\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

\u200bBearing in mind the sort of personality in charge of TAN, no less would have been expected<\/span><\/span>,<\/span><\/span>\u00a0for\u00a0<\/span><\/span>Ifeanyi<\/span><\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/span>Ubah\u00a0<\/span><\/span>is not only a proactive, enterprising and lion-hearted gentleman but a classical possibility thinker. The sort of\u00a0<\/span><\/span>\u201c<\/span><\/span>possibility thinker mentioned by that award \u2013 winning author, that is\u00a0<\/span><\/span>possibility thinkers are risk-running, chance-taking, high adventure seeking<\/span><\/span>,<\/span><\/span>\u00a0sanctified speculators.\u00a0<\/span><\/span>As a result,<\/span><\/span>\u00a0they are more interested in service and success than they are in security. As a result they plunge when they see great potentials. Nerve and courage are<\/span><\/span>\u00a0the trademarks of their character\u201d. So says Robert\u00a0<\/span><\/span>Schuller<\/span><\/span>\u00a0in his book, MOVE AHEAD WITH POSSIBILITY THINKING.\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

\u200bThe notable author and\u00a0<\/span><\/span>preacher,<\/span><\/span>\u00a0may not have heard a name like\u00a0<\/span><\/span>Ifeanyi<\/span><\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/span>Ubah\u00a0<\/span><\/span>when he crafted that statement some decades ago. But one thing is certain: men like this\u00a0<\/span><\/span>indominitable<\/span><\/span>\u00a0and\u00a0<\/span><\/span>visionary<\/span><\/span>\u00a0compatriot called\u00a0<\/span><\/span>Ifeanyi<\/span><\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/span>Uba\u00a0<\/span><\/span>were not far from that celebrated American\u2019s mind when he was writing his universally acclaimed book. Reason: In many ways than one<\/span><\/span>,<\/span><\/span>\u00a0this risk-taking and goal-getting entrepreneur,\u00a0<\/span><\/span>philanthropist<\/span><\/span>, politician, and social crusader, epitomizes the virtues\u00a0<\/span><\/span>and qualities underscored by that author.\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

\u200bTake\u00a0<\/span><\/span>Ubah\u2019s<\/span><\/span>\u00a0story<\/span><\/span>\u00a0for example. As some one from a relatively humble background, the young\u00a0<\/span><\/span>Ifeanyi<\/span><\/span>\u00a0could have easily succumbed to the contagious virus called impossibility thinking or pessimism and self-pity. He could have conveniently argued that be<\/span><\/span>ing as under<\/span><\/span>-privileged as a son of a teacher<\/span><\/span>, there was little or nothing<\/span><\/span>\u00a0he<\/span><\/span>\u00a0could do to alter his destiny. Like m<\/span><\/span>any youngsters of his generation,<\/span><\/span>\u00a0he could have opted to settle for a menial job or even crime. Instead, he determined to triumph against all odds and, by God\u2019s gr<\/span><\/span>ace, he succeeded spectacularly.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

\u200bAs inspiring as\u00a0<\/span><\/span>Ubah\u2019s<\/span><\/span>\u00a0enviabl<\/span><\/span>e rise from the humble background<\/span><\/span>\u00a0to the pi<\/span><\/span>nnacle of fame and fortune may be, what is particularly heart warming is that he never\u00a0<\/span><\/span>hesitates\u00a0<\/span><\/span>to \u201cplunge when (he) sees great potentials\u201d. Hence, with \u201cnerve and courage (as) the trademarks of (his) character\u201d he has plunged into ventures<\/span><\/span>.<\/span><\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/span>Notably oil a<\/span><\/span>nd gas \u2013 which have created hund<\/span><\/span>reds of jobs for a legion\u00a0<\/span><\/span>of youths across the nation<\/span><\/span>.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

\u200bAgainst this backdrop, it has hardly come as a surprise to t<\/span><\/span>hose who know the essential<\/span><\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/span>Ubah<\/span><\/span>\u00a0that the same \u201crisk-running, chance \u2013 taking\u201d mentality has been brought to bear on the operations of the<\/span><\/span>\u00a0innovative Transformation Ambassadors of Nigeria (TAN). The result is evident: as mentioned by the Lagos based advertisement<\/span><\/span>\u00a0executive quoted earlier, TAN\u00a0<\/span><\/span>has not only been undertaking its lofty mission with admirable passion and commitment but has opened new vistas in their field of human and\/or corporate\u00a0<\/span><\/span>endeavour<\/span><\/span>.\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

\u200bThis<\/span><\/span>\u00a0brings to the fore that statement by the journalist\u00a0<\/span><\/span>Ono<\/span><\/span>me<\/span><\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/span>Osifo<\/span><\/span>\u00a0\u2013 Whiskey<\/span><\/span>\u00a0which can be paraphrased as: many achievers like\u00a0<\/span><\/span>Ifeanyi<\/span><\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/span>Ubah<\/span><\/span>\u00a0often get bruised and scorched on the turfs of their ambitious quests.
