President Goodluck Jonathan\u00a0 has fired Nigeria\u2019s Inspector General of Police, Suleiman Abba.<\/p>\n
He is to be replaced by Deputy Inspector General of Police,\u00a0 Solomon Arase.<\/p>\n
\nUntil his appointment as Abba\u2019s replacement, Arase was the Head of the Force Criminal Intelligence and Investigation Department.<\/p>\n
Arase holds Bachelors and Masters Degrees in Law, as well as Bachelors and Masters Degrees in Political Science and Strategic Studies.<\/p>\n
He is also a Fellow of the Nigerian Defence College.<\/p>\n
Abba’s sack was announced by the president\u2019s spokesperson, Reuben Abati, in a tweet on Tuesday.<\/p>\n
No reason was given for the sack.\u00a0 The sack is with immediate effect.<\/p>\n
Abba, NPM, NPOM, mni was the 17th Indigenous Inspector-General of Police took over from former Police boss, IGP MD Abubakar (Rtd) who left on July 31, 2014, having completed 35 years of service.<\/p>\n
