{"id":37825,"date":"2015-04-21T17:35:07","date_gmt":"2015-04-21T16:35:07","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/pointblanknews.com\/pbn\/?p=37825"},"modified":"2015-04-21T17:35:07","modified_gmt":"2015-04-21T16:35:07","slug":"chukwumerije-was-a-national-hero-mark","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/pointblanknews.com\/pbn\/news\/chukwumerije-was-a-national-hero-mark\/","title":{"rendered":"Chukwumerije was a national hero &#8212;&#8212;Mark"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">&#8212;&#8212;-Senate to give him heroic burial\u00a0<\/span><br style=\"color: #000000;\" \/><br style=\"color: #000000;\" \/><span style=\"color: #000000;\">President of the Senate Senator David Mark has described late Senator Uche Chukwumerije as national hero who was a pan- Nigerian in all ramifications .<\/span><br style=\"color: #000000;\" \/><br style=\"color: #000000;\" \/><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Senator Mark told the bereaved family at Senator Chukwumerije&#8217;s ABUJA home today that the late Senator was a nationalist and an unrepentant crusader for the respect for human rights and rule of law .<\/span><br style=\"color: #000000;\" \/><br style=\"color: #000000;\" \/><span style=\"color: #000000;\">He remarked that late Chukwumerije was an astute, firm, fearless and a voice for the voiceless adding &#8221; he was an advocate of the masses who stood for justice, equity and fairness to all &#8220;.<\/span><br style=\"color: #000000;\" \/><br style=\"color: #000000;\" \/><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Senator Mark announced that the Senate has set up a burial committee to liaise with the family in order to give the erudite Senator a befitting burial.<\/span><br style=\"color: #000000;\" \/><br style=\"color: #000000;\" \/><span style=\"color: #000000;\">The Senate President stated that Senator Chukwumerije was an intellectual of very high standing and a parliamentarian per excellence who contributed immensely for the success of the 5th, 6th and 7th Senate.<\/span><br style=\"color: #000000;\" \/><br style=\"color: #000000;\" \/><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Senator Chukwumerije , he stressed was a patriot in every sense of it saying &#8221; he left a positive legacy that the family , Abia state and the nation can always be proud of.&#8221;\u00a0<\/span><br style=\"color: #000000;\" \/><br style=\"color: #000000;\" \/><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Responding on behalf of the family, the eldest son of the late Senator , Chidi noted that his father was a great nationalist who love NIGERIA.<\/span><br style=\"color: #000000;\" \/><br style=\"color: #000000;\" \/><span style=\"color: #000000;\">&#8220;My father was a voice for the voiceless and a defender of the oppressed. He was a true NIGERIAN and a proud son of Africa .
