{"id":37911,"date":"2015-04-24T14:01:09","date_gmt":"2015-04-24T13:01:09","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/pointblanknews.com\/pbn\/?p=37911"},"modified":"2015-04-24T14:01:09","modified_gmt":"2015-04-24T13:01:09","slug":"abia-rerun-polls-sepa-berates-ohaneze-ndigbo-over-ikpeazu","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/pointblanknews.com\/pbn\/news\/abia-rerun-polls-sepa-berates-ohaneze-ndigbo-over-ikpeazu\/","title":{"rendered":"Abia Rerun Polls: SEPA Berates Ohaneze Ndigbo Over Ikpeazu"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><br style=\"color: #000000;\" \/><br style=\"color: #000000;\" \/><span style=\"color: #000000;\">As the Independent National Electoral Commission(INEC) prepares for a<\/span><br style=\"color: #000000;\" \/><span style=\"color: #000000;\">rerun election in some polling units at the nine local government areas in<\/span><br style=\"color: #000000;\" \/><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Abia state, a socio-political group known as South East Progressives<\/span><br style=\"color: #000000;\" \/><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Assembly(SEPA) has berated the South West chapter of Ohaneze Ndigbo for<\/span><br style=\"color: #000000;\" \/><span style=\"color: #000000;\">&#8216;being driven by sentiment to campaign for the All Progressives Grand<\/span><br style=\"color: #000000;\" \/><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Alliance(APGA) and its candidate Dr. Alex Otti&#8217;<\/span><br style=\"color: #000000;\" \/><br style=\"color: #000000;\" \/><span style=\"color: #000000;\">In a statement titled &#8216;Ohaneze Ndigbo: APGA In Disguise&#8217; jointly signed<\/span><br style=\"color: #000000;\" \/><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Ebere Uzoukwa and Comrade Munonye Maximus, President and Secretary of SEPA<\/span><br style=\"color: #000000;\" \/><span style=\"color: #000000;\">that was made available to newsmen, the group maintained that Dr. Okezie<\/span><br style=\"color: #000000;\" \/><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Ikpeazu of the Peoples Democratic Party(PDP) won the Abia governorship<\/span><br style=\"color: #000000;\" \/><span style=\"color: #000000;\">election having defeated his closest rival, Dr. Alex Otti of APGA with<\/span><br style=\"color: #000000;\" \/><span style=\"color: #000000;\">83,053 votes.<\/span><br style=\"color: #000000;\" \/><span style=\"color: #000000;\">The statement reads: &#8220;One of the most prominent social-cultural groups in<\/span><br style=\"color: #000000;\" \/><span style=\"color: #000000;\">the South East geo-political\u00a0 zone \u2013 Ohanaeze Ndi Igbo is beginning to<\/span><br style=\"color: #000000;\" \/><span style=\"color: #000000;\">lose its credibility by approbating and reprobating on the pages of some<\/span><br style=\"color: #000000;\" \/><span style=\"color: #000000;\">National Dailies over the outcome of the Abia state Guber election which<\/span><br style=\"color: #000000;\" \/><span style=\"color: #000000;\">the Independent National Election Commission (INEC) declared inconclusive.<\/span><br style=\"color: #000000;\" \/><br style=\"color: #000000;\" \/><span style=\"color: #000000;\">The south west zone of the organization in a recent publication claimed<\/span><br style=\"color: #000000;\" \/><span style=\"color: #000000;\">that the guber candidate of the All Proessive Grand Alliance (APGA) \u2013 Dr.<\/span><br style=\"color: #000000;\" \/><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Alex Otti won the election with majority of the votes cast. In another<\/span><br style=\"color: #000000;\" \/><span style=\"color: #000000;\">breath, Ohaneze called for fresh guber polls in Abia State through a<\/span><br style=\"color: #000000;\" \/><span style=\"color: #000000;\">publication credited to its national publicity secretary \u2013 Okpalaukwu<\/span><br style=\"color: #000000;\" \/><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Okpalaezeukwu on the ground that the election in Abia State was marred by<\/span><br style=\"color: #000000;\" \/><span style=\"color: #000000;\">gross irregularities and unprecedented rigging.<\/span><br style=\"color: #000000;\" \/><br style=\"color: #000000;\" \/><span style=\"color: #000000;\">&#8220;The organization which always claims to be a non-political is now being<\/span><br style=\"color: #000000;\" \/><span style=\"color: #000000;\">driven by sentiments to campaign for APGA. They are now sponsoring<\/span><br style=\"color: #000000;\" \/><span style=\"color: #000000;\">publications capable of destroying its reputation and further dragging the<\/span><br style=\"color: #000000;\" \/><span style=\"color: #000000;\">image of the Igbo nation to the mud.<\/span><br style=\"color: #000000;\" \/><br style=\"color: #000000;\" \/><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Evidently, a careful consideration of the positions taken by now the<\/span><br style=\"color: #000000;\" \/><span style=\"color: #000000;\">pro-APGA group shows that there is no iota of truth in their publications<\/span><br style=\"color: #000000;\" \/><span style=\"color: #000000;\">but a calculated attempt to mislead the good people of Abia State and the<\/span><br style=\"color: #000000;\" \/><span style=\"color: #000000;\">general public.<\/span><br style=\"color: #000000;\" \/><br style=\"color: #000000;\" \/><span style=\"color: #000000;\">&#8220;First, INEC did not declare the APGA candidate \u2013 Dr. Alex Otti as the<\/span><br style=\"color: #000000;\" \/><span style=\"color: #000000;\">winner of the election and neither did he score the highest number of<\/span><br style=\"color: #000000;\" \/><span style=\"color: #000000;\">votes as purportedly claimed by the Ohanaeze. It is apparently on record<\/span><br style=\"color: #000000;\" \/><span style=\"color: #000000;\">from INEC source,\u00a0 both in the printed and electronic media that Dr.<\/span><br style=\"color: #000000;\" \/><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Okezie Ikpeazu of PDP took the lead with 248,459 votes while Dr. Alex Otti<\/span><br style=\"color: #000000;\" \/><span style=\"color: #000000;\">managed to pull only 165,406 votes. What then is the basis for claiming<\/span><br style=\"color: #000000;\" \/><span style=\"color: #000000;\">that the APGA candidate won the election when in actual fact Dr. Ikpeazu<\/span><br style=\"color: #000000;\" \/><span style=\"color: #000000;\">of the PDP defeated Dr. Otti with 83,053 votes?<\/span><br style=\"color: #000000;\" \/><br style=\"color: #000000;\" \/><span style=\"color: #000000;\">It is very unfortunate that the group that prayed for a declaration of Dr.<\/span><br style=\"color: #000000;\" \/><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Alex Otti as the winner of the election is also the same group that called<\/span><br style=\"color: #000000;\" \/><span style=\"color: #000000;\">for fresh guber poll in Abia state on ground of electoral malpractices.<\/span><br style=\"color: #000000;\" \/><span style=\"color: #000000;\">This calls for a POSER! Does it mean that Ohanaeze wants INEC to declare<\/span><br style=\"color: #000000;\" \/><span style=\"color: #000000;\">someone the winner of an election which they already knew was also<\/span><br style=\"color: #000000;\" \/><span style=\"color: #000000;\">characterized by irregularities and unprecedented rigging? They can not be<\/span><br style=\"color: #000000;\" \/><span style=\"color: #000000;\">speaking from both sides of their mouth. Obviously, their publication is a<\/span><br style=\"color: #000000;\" \/><span style=\"color: #000000;\">product of sentiment and natural hatred on the candidacy of the PDP<\/span><br style=\"color: #000000;\" \/><span style=\"color: #000000;\">candidate \u2013 DR.
