The National chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Adamu Mu\u2019azu, has said he could not force the people of Bauchi to\u00a0vote \u00a0for President Goodluck Jonathan..<\/div>\n

According to the embattled chairman roundly accused\u00a0of \u00a0betraying Jonathan after receiving over N800million for mobilization in his home state.<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
The PDP lost Bauchi in a most embarrassing manner despite the presence of Governor Isa Yuguda, FCT minister, Bala Mohammed, and Mu’azu, who lost his polling unit to the APC.<\/div>\n

Writing on his Twitter handle Tuesday, Mr. Mu\u2019azu said those accusing him of not doing his best for Mr. Jonathan were \u201ceconomical with the truth\u201d.<\/p>\n

He said he had remained in the PDP since 1999 \u201cas a matter of principle and strong ideology\u201d.<\/p>\n

\u201cI gave my best and all to the campaign of Mr. President and the party. We went to every state in Nigeria to campaign.<\/p>\n

\u201cIn the face of abuse, insult and open ridicule by our friends and brothers we supported our leader President Jonathan faithfully,\u201d Mr. Mu\u2019azu, a former governor of Bauchi State, said.<\/p>\n

The PDP spokesperson, Olisa Metuh, had on Monday said the leadership of the party was sidelined during the campaigns for Mr. Jonathan, while overzealous members preached hate and helped raise the popularity of Muhammadu Buhari, the eventual winner of the presidential polls.<\/p>\n

.”Those who blame us for not delivering maximum votes to the president in the north seem to have forgotten that it\u2019s the people who vote,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

Mr. Mu\u2019azu said if the opportunity presents itself again, he would support Mr. Jonathan, adding however that, \u201cI have always preached against ethnicity and tribalism and the voting pattern in the election was a concern to me personally.<\/p>\n

\u201cIf I had my way, everyone in my state \u2018Bauchi\u2019 would have voted for President Jonathan but it\u2019s the people that vote not me.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe unity of Nigeria to me is greater than sectional or ethnic interests. I can never regret supporting our leader President Jonathan,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
