\u201cOur attention has been drawn to an online story entitled ‘Tinubu Can’t
\nBlackmail Buhari, says Former Finance Minister’ or its variant,\u00a0 entitled
\n\u2018Yoruba People Contributed Nothing to Buhari\u2019s Victory\u2019 which are being
\npresented as having been adapted from a statement purportedly issued by
\nformer Minister of National Planning, Dr Shamsuddeeen Usman,CON.<\/p>\n
As his aides, we had initially doubted the information upon first alert,
\nbut were eventually prompted to check online for confirmation, following
\nrelentless apprehension from friends of Dr Usman and other well meaning
\nNigerians who have been calling to express their outrage We discovered, to
\nour chagrin, that the malicious publication was actually posted on the
\ninternet by a couple of shadowy online news sites.<\/p>\n
Clearly, they had done this out of mischief as was evident in the
\nshameless confession of one of the sources that goes by the name
\nSayelbaTimes which still went ahead to publish the information, even after
\nadmitting languidly, that \u201cSayelbaTimes is yet to confirm the veracity of
\nthe claim though.\u201d<\/p>\n
It is quite telling that both the print and electronic media as well as
\nthe mainstream\u00a0 online news sources which are very conversant with Dr
\nUsman\u2019s personality had deliberately ignored the information, knowing that
\nit couldn\u2019t be anything else other than a contrivance of the wicked.<\/p>\n
Anybody who has followed the exemplary career and accomplishments of this
\ncognate technocrat, especially his unblemished record in public service,
\nwill attest to the fact that Dr Usman neither speaks the language of abuse
\nnor engages in trite talks.<\/p>\n
We wish therefore to categorically state that Dr Usman knows nothing about
\nthis invidious and treacherous statement that has been attributed to him
\nthrough a fake social media account.<\/p>\n
While we urge the general public to disregard such irrational claims, we
\nare also inclined to warn the originators of the fake report to desist
\nfrom such actions. This is because it is pure evil, criminal, cowardly and
\ndesigned to ultimately consume the perpetrators.<\/p>\n
It is a natural justice that no crime will go unpunished, and it is only a
\nmatter of time before the perpetrators of this heinous fabrication will be
\nexposed. To ensure that this is done, our principal has put the security
\nagencies and his lawyers on notice, and we have no doubt that they will
\ndiligently do their job.\u201d<\/p>\n
