\nWe greet and salute you on your assumption of office as President and
\nCommander-in-Chief of Nigeria, following the recent less than free and
\nfair presidential election (did you see the pictures of the lineup of
\nunderage voters all across the North that participated in the vote?) in
\nwhich the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) declared you
\nthe winner over Goodluck Jonathan. Uneasy lays the head that wears the
\ncrown.
\nNow that you have finally achieved your dream of ruling this country in a
\ncivilian setting, after the treason of your reign as military dictator
\nfrom 1983 to 1985, we are re-presenting to you an appeal that we made to
\nGoodluck Jonathan during his time in office as president. That appeal is
\nto release the declassified instrument of Biafra surrender, following the
\ngenocidal war of 1967 to 1970, which claimed the lives of over 3 million
\ninnocent Igbo and other Easterners.
\nWhile you enjoyed your coronation yesterday as the latest king of
\nslave-ship called Nigeria, please allow us to enjoy and reflect on ours
\ntoday, namely, \u2013 the commemoration of the independence of the Nation of
\nBiafra. Recall that this was the day the Nation of Biafra, 48 years ago,
\nproudly exercised their God given rights to Self-Actualization \u2013 freedom
\nfrom rejection and annihilation. Is it not tragic General Buhari that you
\nplayed an instrumental role in abuse of\u00a0 Biafran human rights and freedom
\n\u2013 by participating in the second recorded genocide in world history, and
\nthe first in the continent of Africa? Because of what you and your fellow
\ntravelers did in this foundational genocide, is it any wonder that the
\ngenocides later in Rwanda, Sudan, and other places in Africa followed
\nsuit, with reckless abandon with tragic consequences for the lives of
\nmillions of innocent Africans, including the more than 3 million
\nEasterners who perished in Biafra?
\nHerein is our second request to you and your Nigerian authority to release
\nthe declassified surrender document of the Biafrans. In our first request
\nlast year, we made our reasons very clear. Those justifications included
\nthe freedom of Information Act (FOI) that your predecessor signed into law
\nin 2011, and the fact that 45 years is more than the maximum 30-year rule
\nimposed for declassification of key national security documents by any
\nserious entity. Your predecessor never responded to us, hence this second
\nrequest. The other two tyrants, Generals Olusegun Obasanjo and Yakubu
\nGowon, which we also copied to, did not acknowledge or respond to our
\nrequest. Neither did Ohaneze Ndi-Igbo, the world renowned \u201cOfeke\u201d Igbo of
\nthe present day Igbo organization. Perhaps, if they start by changing
\ntheir name to \u201cOhabueze\u201d that reflects the true Igbo way of life; their
\nyears of cowardice attitude might change for good. Therefore, General
\nBuhari, here is another opportunity to humiliate the Biafrans by releasing
\nthe declassified surrender document.
\nIn the event that this second request to release is not granted in 30
\ndays, as the mandatory working days under the FOI specifies, we the
\nBiafrans will reaffirm the following little known facts:
\n\u2022\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 That in January, 1970, there was a \u201cTruce\u201d by all parties of the conflicts
\n\u2022\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 That the conflicting parties sat down formally on a negotiating
\nroundtable as old friends and \u201cbrothers.\u201d
\n\u2022\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 That all the parties in the agreement roundtable were equal partners
\n\u2022\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 That the \u201cArmistice\u201d or \u201cPeace\u201d agreement reached was a permanent
\n\u201cCessation of Hostilities\u201d by the conflicting parties to sheathe their
\nswords
\n\u2022\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 That all gladiators in the conflict agreed also in principle that they
\nwere \u201ccommon brothers\u201d of the same birth by the British Empire. The
\nhypocrisy of reconciling with a group, and then turning around to hate,
\nhaunt, and brutalize that group is mind boggling
\nWe will also demand that the citizens of Nigeria stop, with immediate
\neffect, their erroneous and ignorant delusion:
\n\u2022\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 That they and their collaborators (including Britain, former U.S.S.R.,
\nthe Arab League, etc.) defeated Biafra in that war
\n\u2022\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 That their unwarranted pomposity about being ready to teach the Igbo
\nanother lesson is laughable, knowing that 1967 is not the same as 2015
\n\u2022\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 That their continuous serial killings, intimidations, and harassments of
\nIgbo people everywhere in Nigeria must not be mistaken as a sign of
\ncowardice of the Igbo Nation
\n\u2022\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 That the haters and killers of Igbo people every day in Nigeria have no
\nmonopoly to violence
\n\u2022\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 That Self-Determination by any aggrieved group, as enshrined in the
\nUnited Nation Charter, is a concept that Nigeria is not immunized from,
\ngoing by the experience of many countries, including South Sudan recently,
\nthat has exercised that option.
\nThank you General Buhari as we await your reply. We wish you well. As one
\nof your fellow Nigerians famously put it, may your road be rough!
