DELTA State Governor, Senator Ifeanyi Okowa has described the civil
\nservice as a veritable tool to deliver on his 5-point agenda for Deltans.<\/p>\n
The Governor who met with top echelon of the Delta State Civil Service at
\nthe Government House, Asaba asserted, \u201cthere is no government that can
\nsucceed without the civil service and we are committed to delivering on
\nour electoral promises.\u201d<\/p>\n
\u201cI want to let you know that we are in partnership with you because
\nwithout you, we cannot succeed,\u201d the Governor told the Civil Servants,
\nstating that a disciplined and trustworthy civil service was desired by
\nhis administration.<\/p>\n
According to Senator Okowa, \u201cwe desire a civil service that is trusted by
\nDeltans and the government of Delta State,\u201d adding, \u201cyou should be
\ndisciplined in your hearts and instil discipline among the working class,
\nyou are the role models people look up to and the success of our
\nadministration will largely depend on you, there is a burden on each of
\nyou for us to deliver on our S.M.A.R.T. agenda which includes, Strategic
\nwealth creation initiatives and provision of Jobs for all; Meaningful
\npeace building platforms aimed at political\/social stability; Agricultural
\nreforms and industrialization; relevant health and education policies;
\nTransformed environment through massive urban renewal.\u201d<\/p>\n
While disclosing that the state has a heavy debt burden, the Governor
\nstated that there must be ways to carry on with the activities of
\ngovernment to deliver democratic dividends to the people.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe are in a major debt over hang, a very difficult financial state, we
\nshould appreciate that and the onus is on all of us to find a way out, we
\nwill need to find a way to input on the lives Deltans,\u201d the Governor
\nstated, reiterated that the meeting was necessary to \u201cdiscuss the debts
\nover hang, brief the civil servants on the present state of things and rub
\nmind on the way forward, both now and the years to come.\u201d<\/p>\n
The Governor commended the civil servants for their contributions to the
\ngrowth of the state.<\/p>\n
Earlier, the Head of Service in the state, Mr Patrick Origho had
\ncongratulated the Governor and his Deputy on their successful assumption
\nof office and pledged an unalloyed loyalty of the civil servants to
