Akwa Ibom Government has indicated its readiness to set up a technical
\ncommittee to canvass direct foreign investments in the agricultural sector
\nto boost food sufficiency in the state.<\/p>\n
The state Governor, Mr. Udom Emmanuel, who gave the hint Sunday during a
\nthanksgiving service for the state deputy governor, Mr. Moses Ekpo at St.
\nJohn`s Pro-Cathedral Parish, Abak, said his administration would select a
\ncrop of individuals with the goal of turning thousands of persons to
\nemployers of labour through contacts and discussions..<\/p>\n
Emmanuel described Ekpo as a man with the wider experience in the public
\nservice, and hoped he would make more meaningful contributions to raise
\nthe state to higher pedestals of life, assuring that people who want to
\nfan the embers of disunity would be disappointed considering the
\ncollective fasting and prayers by the people of the state.<\/p>\n
He pledged to unfold his administration\u2019s agenda soon based on the divine
\nmandate given him by People\u2019s Democratic Party (PDP) and affirmed through
\nthe ballot by the people of the state, advising the celebrator who
\norganised the thanksgiving service described as a multi-faceted event to
\nmaintain the light of God in his service to the state.<\/p>\n
The deputy governor, Ekpo said the thanksgiving service was arranged to
\nappreciate God for sparing his life despite several travails, hailed the
\nprayers of the Christian community in launching him to be part of the
\npresent administration.<\/p>\n
Ekpo thanked the governor for turning up at the thanksgiving service in
\nspite of crowded activities, saying that since retirement to private life,
\nthe prayers of the Christian community have been working for him and his
\nfamily.<\/p>\n
The presiding cleric, Rev. Fr. Dominic Umoh in the first and second Bible
\nreading from Exodus 24: 3\u20138 and Hebrews 9:11-15 said God is a mediator of
\nChristians through a divine covenant, stressing that there exists a
\nredemption for man from transgressions.<\/p>\n
Umoh preaching on the theme, The blood of Christ will purify our
\nconscience said all promises of God would be fulfilled in the lives of
\ntrue Christians, and sued for obedience to the word of God.<\/p>\n
Top politicians at the event are, a one-time military administrator of the
\nstate, Otuekong Idongesit Nkanga, a former deputy governor, Dr. Chris
\nEkpenyong, the Pro-Chancellor, University of Benin, Senator Effiong Bob, a
\none-time Minister for Lands and Housing, Chief Nduese Essien, a former
\nAKISIEC Commissioner, Dr. Ini Adiakpan, Akwa Ibom State Chairman of PDP,
\nObong Paul Ekpo and the Chairman, Akwa Ibom Traditional Rulers Council,
