He also expressed surprise at the boycott of the meeting with President Muhammadu Buhari at the International Conference Center by Senators loyal to Saraki.<\/p>\n<p id=\"yui_3_16_0_1_1433855463068_58157\" dir=\"ltr\">Saraki led a group of renegade senators who defied Buhari,\u00a0 and the entire leadership of his party.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">Buhari and the APC leadership had preferred senator Ahmed Lawan,\u00a0 who they view as a more credible fellow. At a mock primary the party had endorsed Lawan,\u00a0 and left Saraki who had about 30 senators behind him.<\/p>\n<p id=\"yui_3_16_0_1_1433855463068_58158\" dir=\"ltr\">The party also threw it&#8217;s weight behind Femi Gbajabiamila.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">But by late Monday night the Saraki camp had made up its mind to fight to the end. The group approached the PDP Senators led by David Mark for an alliance.\u00a0 The Mark group became the beautiful bride or tie breaker.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">Sources hinted <a href=\"http:\/\/pointblanknews.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\">pointblanknews.com<\/a> that Saraki offered to make a PDP member deputy senate president if it backs Saraki.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">It is also instructive to note that at about 1.50am Tuesday morning,\u00a0 PDP spokesman,\u00a0 Olisa Metuh,\u00a0 had in a statement directed it&#8217;s members to vote Saraki,\u00a0 and Yakubu Dogara for Speaker.<\/p>\n<p id=\"yui_3_16_0_1_1433855463068_58159\" dir=\"ltr\">Meanwhile,\u00a0 sensing a showdown, the party leadership urged both groups to hold fire, and attend a reconciliation meeting at the Conference center Abuja, Tuesday,\u00a0 at 9am.<\/p>\n<p id=\"yui_3_16_0_1_1433855463068_58160\" dir=\"ltr\">Pointblanknews.com gathered that while\u00a0\u00a0 those loyal to Lawan, and Gbajabiamila, including Remi Tinubu,\u00a0 Omoworare,\u00a0 Isiaka Adeleke etc,\u00a0 assembled at the ICC, Saraki took his men to the National Assembly. When they got there, Mark and his men were already on ground.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">Few minutes later, business commenced, without a large chunk of Senators who were at the ICC waiting for\u00a0 Buhari and top party officials.<\/p>\n<p id=\"yui_3_16_0_1_1433855463068_58168\" dir=\"ltr\">Saraki was quickly nominated, Ahmed Yerima,\u00a0 and seconded by Dino Melaye.\u00a0 He was unopposed.\u00a0 He was proclaimed senate president.<\/p>\n<p id=\"yui_3_16_0_1_1433855463068_58167\" dir=\"ltr\">New Deputy senate president,\u00a0 Ike Ekweremadu beat Ali Ndume to emerge.<\/p>\n<p id=\"yui_3_16_0_1_1433855463068_58166\" dir=\"ltr\">Pointblanknews.com also gathered that when news got to the lawmakers at the ICC of what Saraki and his group were trying to do with the PDP,\u00a0 it was too late.<\/p>\n<p id=\"yui_3_16_0_1_1433855463068_58165\" dir=\"ltr\">By the time they rushed down it was over.
