DELTA State Governor, Dr Ifeanyi Okowa has called on religious leaders to
\nalways counsel those in authority to enable them govern the people with
\nthe fear of God.<\/p>\n
The Governor made the call in Asaba when the General Overseer of Deeper
\nLife Bible Ministry, Pastor William Kumuyi paid him a courtesy visit.<\/p>\n
According to him, religious leaders have strong roles to play in ensuring
\ngood governance, stable polity and progressive society.<\/p>\n
He stated, \u201cI urge religious leaders to continue to pray for the nation
\nand give counselling to leaders in government, otherwise, they will
\nderail,\u201d adding, \u201cI thank God for the way Nigeria is progressing, as a
\nnation, we need a lot of prayers and counselling.\u201d<\/p>\n
\u201cSince 1999, we have been able to uphold democracy, transiting from one
\ngovernment to another, during the 2015 general elections, people were
\napprehensive but God proved Himself, I thank God for granting us peaceful
\nelections and transition,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
The Governor also, challenged religious leaders to make the youths embrace
\nthe gospel of Christ for a better society to be achieved, observing that
\nthere are a lot of challenges in the country today because, people are no
\nlonger adhering to the words of God.<\/p>\n
He said, \u201cwe are glad you are in Delta State to teach the words of God, a
\nlot of people will gain from you, a lot of people are putting Christ
\nbehind, especially the youths and it is not good, the more we teach the
\ngospel, the better for the upbringing of the children and the nation.\u201d<\/p>\n
Senator Okowa who used the occasion to assure Deltans that he will govern
\nwith the fear of God and be accountable to the people, called for patience
\nand understanding amongst Deltans reiterating that the prosperity agenda
\nwould be delivered to the good of the people.<\/p>\n
Earlier, Pastor Kumuyi, accompanied by his wife, Esther and a host of
\nPastors, said he was in Delta State for five days crusade and prayed for
