The Emir of Anka in Zamfara, Attahiru Ahmad, on Tuesday received his
\ncertificate of appointment as the Chancellor of the Federal University of
\nPetroleum Resources in Effurun in Warri, Delta State.<\/p>\n
The Emir received the certificate at his palace in Anka from the
\nVice-Chancellor of the University, Prof. Akaehomen Akii Ibhadode.<\/p>\n
Speaking at the occasion, Ibhadode said: \u201d we are here in Anka to present
\nthe certificate of appointment as chancellor of our great university
\nfollowing your appointment by the Federal Government few months ago\u201d.<\/p>\n
\u201dWe are happy to have you as chancellor considering your position as emir
\nof one of the historic and respected emirate in the country.<\/p>\n
\u201dThe Federal Government considered your capacity and ability in line with
\nyour academic records in both Islamic and Western education and your
\ncommitments towards the development of education in Nigeria.\u201d<\/p>\n
The vice-chancellor appealed to the chancellor to use his experience and
\ninfluences as traditional ruler to contribute to the development of the
\nuniversity.<\/p>\n
He commended the people of Anka Town and Anka Emirate Council for the warm
\nwelcome given him.<\/p>\n
Responding, Ahmad thanked the Federal Government for the appointment and
\nopportunity to serve in that capacity.<\/p>\n
The emir promised to work with the management of the university to bring
\npositive changes and improve the standard to join the best 500
\nuniversities in the world.<\/p>\n
Ahmad also appealed to the vice chancellor and the entire management,
\nstaff and students of the university to give him their maximum cooperation
