President Muhammadu Buhari has expressed condolences to the president and
\npeople of the Republic of Chad, following the twin suicide bombings which
\ntook place in the country\u2019s capital on Monday, killing 23 people and
\nwounding more than 100 in the attacks which the Chadian police has blamed
\non Boko Haram militants.<\/p>\n
The President also condoled the people and government of Borno state over
\nthe loss of over 60 lives from explosion triggered by abandoned explosives
\nin Monguno town.<\/p>\n
According to a statement signed by Garba Shehu, the Senior Special
\nAssistant to the President on Media and Publicity, President Buhari
\nexpressed his condolences in a telephone call to President Idriss Deby, at
\n5.30pm on Wednesday, June 17.<\/p>\n
\u201cChad has been on the frontline of the regional fight against the Boko
\nHaram terrorists,\u201d President Buhari said. \u201cThey have stood by us through
\nthe worst and most difficult times of the challenges we have faced with
\nterrorism. You also have our support during this difficult time.\u201d<\/p>\n
He added that it was sad and pitiful that the terrorists had extended
\ntheir brutal cowardice to the neighbouring country, but expressed hope
\nthat it was only a matter of time before the insurgents would be flushed
\nout and dealt with.<\/p>\n
He assured the people of Borno state of the commitment of his
\nadministration to degrade the insurgency which had necessitated the
\nrelocation of the command centre of the military to its hotbed.<\/p>\n
\u201cCrushing Boko Haram will remain a priority of my government,\u201d President
