Governor Nyesom Wike has sued for synergy amongst the states in the
\nSouth-South region as a way of ensuring\u00a0 development.<\/p>\n
He broached\u00a0 the idea\u00a0 while playing host to members of the Delta state
\nHouse of Assembly, who were on retreat. The honourable members of the
\nDelta State Assembly\u00a0 were led by the\u00a0 Speaker, Rt. Hon. Monday Ikp to
\nGovernment House,\u00a0 Port Harcourt on Wednesday.<\/p>\n
Governor Wike stressed that the synergy is crucial for the region to enjoy
\nthe dividends of democracy.<\/p>\n
The governor used the visit to reiterate the need to give independence to
\nthe legislature, stressing that his administration will do everything to
\nmake sure the three arms of government worked without interference.<\/p>\n
In his words: \u201cYou do not need to pocket the legislature to think that you
\nare safe.\u00a0 The judiciary and the legislature were not working before, but
\ntoday by the grace of God the judiciary and legislature are back\u201d.<\/p>\n
While dismissing the various propaganda promoted by the opposition against
\nhis administration as mendacios, he said the government was not bothered
\nabout any fear of its tenure, but is rather is more concerned with
\ndelivering on its promise.<\/p>\n
Governor Wike averted that:\u00a0 \u201cI can assure you that if you organize
\nelections 20 times here in the state, PDP will win\u201d.<\/p>\n
He therefore urged the legislators\u00a0 to enjoy their stay in the state and
\nwished\u00a0 them a fruitful retreat.<\/p>\n
Earlier, Speaker of the Delta State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Monday
\nIkpuya had congratulated the governor on his election victory, stating
\nthat the choice of Rivers State for its retreat was planked on the status
\nof the state as the headquarters of the South-South.<\/p>\n
Rt. Hon. Ikpuya said from their findings,\u00a0 Governor Wike is the
\nindisputable\u00a0 choice of the electorate.<\/p>\n
He added that the retreat will afford them opportunity to understudy the
\nstate\u2019s legislative process and utilize it appropriately.<\/p>\n
The same view was expressed by the Speaker of the Rivers State House of
\nAssembly, Rt. Hon. Ibani Ikuinyi who accompanied the lawmakers. The
\nSpeaker of the Rivers State House of Assembly emphasized that an interface
\nwas necessary between Houses of Assembly in the region.<\/p>\n
Rt. Hon. Ikuinyi further stressed that: \u201cThe retreat is a peer review
