His sack may not be unconnected with the battle between the Directorate of<\/p>\n
State Security, DSS, and the Nigerian Army over which agency should<\/p>\n
provide close body protection for the president, a role that has<\/p>\n
traditionally been carried out by the DSS.<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
He has been replaced by an officer of the DSS.<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
Since Buhari moved into the Presidential Villa, there has been a battle<\/p>\n
between the DSS and the Army over who should provide close body protection<\/p>\n
for the president.<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
The crisis came to a head when the ADC, an army lieutenant, ordered DSS<\/p>\n
operatives out of the Villa and replaced them with soldiers.<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
A source at the Villa familiar with the matter told Sunday Vanguard that<\/p>\n
the new CSO is a more senior officer than the officer who was removed.<\/p>\n
