Ibadan \u2013 Satguru Maharaji ji, the founder of One Love Family, has advised<\/p>\n
President Muhammadu Buhari to use traditional means to tackle the Boko
\nHaram insurgency.<\/p>\n
Maharaj ji gave the advice on Sunday in Ibadan at a press conference to
\nmark the 35th anniversary of the One Love Family in Nigeria.<\/p>\n
He said that this approach became necessary in order to overcome the
\nincessant killing of innocent people by the terrorist group.<\/p>\n
Maharaji ji said traditional leaders have some powerful traditional
\ndeities that could help find solution to the Boko Haram insurgency within
\nweeks.<\/p>\n
\u201cIf the traditional leaders are involved in the process of addressing the
\nissue, the crisis will soon be forgotten.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe president needs to consult people such as me and other traditional
\nleaders to break the myth surrounding the Boko Haram terrorist movement.<\/p>\n
\u201cThey do not know the teachings of Islam and need to be dealt with
\ntraditionally because they are being used by some people and they use
\nreligion as a cover to create trouble,\u2019\u2019 Maharaj ji said.<\/p>\n
Maharaj ji lauded Buhari for his initiative on salary cut, adding that
\nmore steps needed to be taken in reducing the cost of governance.<\/p>\n
He also advised Buhari to set up a Salary Restructure Committee to look
\ninto the salaries and allowances of the President, Vice President, members
\nof the National Assembly and ministers with a view to reducing their
\nemoluments.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe committee would come out with a uniform salary scale and allowances
\nthat would not be as much as the present one.<\/p>\n
\u201cThis would be better than an individual cutting his salary and the others
\nnot doing so.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe money generated from this reduction can be used for development
\nprojects that would have direct impact on the ordinary masses,\u2019\u2019 he said.<\/p>\n
He also urged the president to monitor the constituency allowances being
\ngiven to the National Assembly members by ensuring that the money was
\nbeing used judiciously.<\/p>\n
\u201cIn order to eradicate corruption, the politicians should be made to swear
\nwith the god of iron instead of using Quran and Bible during their
\ninauguration.<\/p>\n
\u201cThis will bring sanity into the system and prevent political office
\nholders from stealing public funds because thunder will strike the thieves
\namong them to death instantly,\u2019\u2019 he said.<\/p>\n
The One Love Family leader warned against same sex marriage, saying it
