\nEkiti State Governor, Mr Ayodele Fayose has said announcements in the<\/span>
\nmedia by the President Mohammadu Buhari led All Progressives Congress<\/span>
\n(APC) Federal Government that the immediate past Peoples Democratic<\/span>
\nParty (PDP) government of Dr Goodluck Jonathan will be probed was mere<\/span>
\n\u201cplaying to the gallery,\u201d noting that \u201cthere is no need announcing the<\/span>
\nintended probe in the media. Rather, the Federal Government should<\/span>
\njust go ahead and carry out the probe.<\/span><\/p>\n

The governor, who also counselled the Buhari-led government not to<\/span>
\nembark on selective probe, added that; \u201cFrom all indications, it is<\/span>
\nobvious that the probe they are talking about is targeted at some
\npeople and if activities of anti-graft agencies during the tenure of<\/span>
\nPresident Buhari are going to be selective, the president should know<\/span>
\nthat the world is watching.\u201d<\/p>\n

In a release issued in Ado Ekiti by his Special Assistant on Public<\/span>
\nCommunications and New Media, Lere Olayinka, Governor Fayose said the<\/span>
\nconsequences of Dr Goodluck Jonathan\u2019s conducting a credible election
\nand handing over power to the winner should not be witch-hunt as
\nobviously being done by the federal government.<\/p>\n

\u201cNigerians should not be probed on the pages of newspapers. Rather,
\nthe anti-graft agencies should do their jobs quietly, diligently and
\nin accordance with the laws of the country, not as dictated by any
\nindividual or political party,\u201d Fayose said.<\/p>\n

The governor noted that; \u201cIf there must be any probe, Nigerians want a
\ngeneral probe, not a probe targeted only at PDP supporters, those who
\nserved in Jonathan\u2019s government and those seen as not agreeing with
\nthe APC positions on the National Assembly.<\/p>\n

\u201cHowever, if what they believed should be done is a selective probe,
\nthose holding power in Abuja now should know that what goes round will
\nsurely come round and it is just a matter of time.\u201d<\/p>\n

Speaking further, Governor Fayose urged President Buhari to pay more
\nattention to governance, especially the Boko Haram insurgency that has
\ncome back strongly taking control of five Local Government Areas in
\nthe North East, the rising exchange rates of Dollar; Pound Sterling;
\nEuro and other foreign currencies and most importantly, he be guided
\nby the rule of law.<\/p>\n

\u201cThis is because four years is a very short period and time is already
\ngoing. Before you sleep and wakeup, four years will be gone and
\nNigerians will rate the government based on how well the government
\nbettered their lives, not how many perceived enemies were hunted with
\nanti-graft agencies, he said.\u201d<\/p>\n

He noted that God was already vindicating Dr Jonathan by elevating
\nthose who worked with him, saying; \u201cAs opposition party, APC
\ndisparaged Jonathan and those who worked with him. Now that the party
\nis in power, they are still doing the same, behaving as if the party
\nis still in opposition.<\/p>\n

\u201cIronically, the same people the APC vilified are being elevated at
\nthe world stage. Dr Akinwumi Adesina, who served a Jonathan\u2019s Minister<\/span>
\nof Agriculture, is now the African Development Bank (ADB) president<\/span>
\nwhile Arunma Oteh,who was the Director-General of the Security<\/span>
\nExchange Commission (SEC) under Jonathan is reported to have been<\/span><\/p>\n
