Plans by former First Lady and wife of ex-President Goodluck Jonathan,
\nDame Patience Jonathan to hijack the All Progressive Congress, APC in
\nBayelsa State to foist a candidate of her choice in the forthcoming
\ngovernorship election in Bayelsa State has been uncovered.<\/p>\n
A group simply known as the \u00e2\u20ac\u02dcForum For Political Freedom in Bayelsa
\nState, FOPOF, accused the former First Lady of using her illegally
\nacquired wealth to heavily fund and create a power bloc in the APC in
\nBayelsa State, using members of the defunct Transformation Ambassadors of
\nNigeria, TAN, whom she equally used to undermine the leadership of the PDP
\nin the State in the period leading up to the last presidential election,
\nwhich the husband lost.<\/p>\n
According to the
\nDirector-General of FOPOF, Elder Adenzi Kakarite, the majority of those
\ndefecting from the PDP to the APC, are not only her close associates,
\nbut vocal members of the defunct TAN in Bayelsa State, whom she wants to
\nuse to impose a candidate of her choice to run on the platform of the
\nparty in the forthcoming elections.<\/p>\n
Elder Kakarite pointed out that, the former first lady, who had promised
\nto remain in Okrika has now made Otuoke her political sanctuary and daily
\nholding meetings and providing funds, with a view to ensuring that, the
\ndefectors hijack the machinery of the APC to perfect her plans.<\/p>\n
The FOPOF statement further disclosed that, to show her greed for power,
\nshe is on the other hand, also funding and working with the PDP Unity
\nForum, made up of PDP members, who were accused of anti party activities,
\nduring the last State House of Assembly polls in the State and were either
\nexpelled or suspended from the party.<\/p>\n
It
\nexplains that, most of this group of PDP members, who were readmitted
\ninto the party, after the peace and reconciliation efforts of the
\nNational and State offices of the party, are being funded by the former
\nfirst lady to carry out campaigns of calumny and spreading deliberate
\nfalsehood to discredit Governor Seriake Dickson, so that, she would also
\nhave her preferred candidate run for the PDP, thereby placing herself in
\na win, win situation.<\/p>\n
FOPOF also warned Bayelsans to be mindful of the dirty and anti
\nprogressive antics of this group of persons, who are going about
\npropagating falsehood, using some vulnerable Bayelsans to state that, the
\nPDP will lose the Bayelsa governorship, if it fields incumbent governor
\nHenry Seriake Dickson in the forthcoming election.<\/p>\n
The statement read in part, \u00e2\u20ac\u0153The former first lady is very greedy and
\nselfish by wanting to sponsor the candidates of both the PDP and the APC,
\nso that, she can continue to
\nmilk the State dry.
\nBayelsans must rise up and resist this woman, who clearly do not mean well
\nfor Bayelsa State, because she was partly the reason for the husband\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s
\ndefeat in the last presidential election, and since she couldn\u00e2\u20ac\u2122t succeed
\nat the National level, she wants to come and force a governor of her
\nchoice down our throats. No, we must resist it\u00e2\u20ac<\/p>\n
The statement disclosed that, she is coming to meddle in Bayelsa politics,
\nbecause she has fallen out of favour with her kinsmen in Okrika, Rivers
\nState, stressing that, Bayelsans should rise up with one voice to fight
\nthis injustice about to be perpetrated by one woman for her own selfish
