There are indications that the National leader of the All Progressives
\nCongress )APC) and former governor of Lagos State, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed
\nTinubu and its national chairman, Chief John Oyegun are divided over the
\nchoice of the party\u2019s candidate for the December 5 governorship election
\nin Bayelsa state.
\nSources within the APC said that its foundation members have warned
\nagainst fielding the likes of a former chairman of Niger-Delta Development
\nCommission (NDDC), Mr. Timi Alaibe, Chief Dikivie Ikiogha and Warman
\nOgoriba in the governorship election.
\nWhile Tinubu was said to be favourably disposed to the candidacy of Timi
\nAlaibe, Oyegun is rooting for the foundation members of the APC.<\/p>\n
Notable members of the party who spoke under condition of anonymities
\nexpressed dismay over the decision of the likes of Tinubu and ex-President
\nOlusegun Obasanjo to support the candidacy of Alaibe.<\/p>\n
They specifically queried what makes difference between Alaibe and Chief
\nTimipre Sylva.
\nA concerned senior citizen in APC said, “There are several cases of
\nalleged fraudulent acts against Alaibe as Director of Finance and Managing
\nDirector of NDDC. How on earth could the leadership of the party be
\nsupporting such candidate?<\/p>\n
“It really shows that they did not mean well for the state. The records
\nare there. How can somebody come overnight and be laying claim to the
\ngovernorship ticket of the party?<\/p>\n
“Alaibe is living in the past. He has no control of the youth in the
\nstate. Our leaders should not be deceived. We have old members that are
\ncredible. There is need for us to look inward for credible candidate.<\/p>\n
“As party members, we are saying no to impostors. This is not Lagos but
\nBayelsa state. Tinubu should leave us alone. If the party decides to do
\notherwise, we will go back to PDP, after all we have nothing against
\nGovernor Seriake Dickson.
\nThis development is causing ripple among the leadership of the party,
