Akwa Ibom State Governor Mr Udom Emmanuel has commended the decision of
\nResilient Africa\u00a0 a shopping conglomerate\u00a0 in establishing a Shopping
\nMall, Shoprite in the State stating that the initiative underscores the
\navowed determination of his administration to place the state among comity
\nof industrialised Nations.<\/p>\n
Governor Emmanuel stated this during the ground breaking ceremony of
\nShoprite Shopping Mall at Ibom Tropicana Complex, Uyo.<\/p>\n
He described the State as a land of abundance in all fields of human
\nendeavour adding that Resilient Africa has deemed it fit to invest in the
\nstate in order to open up job opportunities and create wealth.<\/p>\n
The State Chief Executive said that the ground breaking ceremonies
\nperformed in recent times across the state, have been complimented with
\ntraining of youths to imbue in them requisite skills that would make them
\nfit into the companies when they are operational.<\/p>\n
He observed that the company has built a fantastic profile for itself in
\ncountries where they operate and enjoined them to maintained\u00a0 the
\nstandards in which they are known for.<\/p>\n
Governor Emmanuel expressed delight on the proposed used of eighty percent
\nlocal content in human and material resources and charged them to complete
\nthe project in a record time.<\/p>\n
Earlier, the Commissioner for Investment, Commerce and Industry Barister
\nEmmanuel Enoidem noted that Shoprite Shopping Mall would\u00a0 be provide
\ntenancy at the Tropicana\u00a0 Complex and that the project will stimulate
\ncommercial activities as well as create\u00a0 employment for the youths.<\/p>\n
In his speech, the Director Resilient Africa Mr Holland Marshall said that
\nthe company will commence construction in three months and in eighteen
\nmonths, full commercial operations will begin. He added that the company
\nhas the capacity to employ six hundred indigenes at commencement of
\noperations.<\/p>\n
Mr Marshall promised a standard edifice\u00a0 that befit the status of the
\nState in line with government drive for industralization and thanked the
\ngovernment as well as the host community for accepting them in their
\ndormain. Mr Marshall sued for a favourable business relationship and
\ncooperation from the host community.<\/p>\n
Also the Commissioner for Environment and Mineral Resources Prince
\nEnoobong Uwa and\u00a0 Village Head Itiam Ikot Ebia,\u00a0 Chief Timothy Udofia who
\nspoke on behalf of the host Community commended the initiative and assured
\nthe company of a good operational environment.They maintained that the
\npeople are peaceful and accommodating.<\/p>\n
