Special Assistant to the Ekiti State Governor on Public Communications<\/span><\/p>\n

and New Media, Lere Olayinka has counselled the All Progressives<\/span>
\nCongress (APC) in Ekiti State to tell President Mohammadu Buhari to<\/span>
\nmake his assets public properly as he promised Nigerians, rather than<\/span>
\nasking Governor Ayodele Fayose to declare his assets publicly, saying;<\/span>
\n\u201cGovernor Fayose was comfortable before he became governor, he is not<\/span>
\na deceitful person who goes about parading mud houses and cattle herds<\/span>
\nas assets for cheap political publicity.\u201d<\/p>\n

Olayinka, who reacted to a statement issued by the APC, asking the<\/span>
\ngovernor to publicly declare his assets said, \u201cGovernor Fayose has<\/span>
\ndeclared his assets as provided by the 1999 Constitution of the<\/span>
\nFederal Republic of Nigeria and whoever that is not satisfied can<\/span>
\napproach the Court or the Code of Conduct Bureau (CCB) for copy of his<\/span>
\nassets declaration form.\u201d<\/p>\n

He said the APC was only raising issues on the governor’s already<\/span>
\ndeclared assets because of his critical stance on President Buhari,<\/span>
\nadding that; \u201cunlike President Buhari, Governor Fayose will never shy<\/span>
\naway from what he owns, he will never deny his assets because he<\/span>
\nacquired them legitimately. The governor does not need the easy and<\/span>
\ncheap excitement of declaring mud houses or herds of cows as assets<\/span>
\nfor the applause of the gullible.\u201d<\/p>\n

Olayinka said further; “We know where everybody, including President<\/span>
\nBuhari wealth are hidden and the APC should not provoke the governor<\/span>
\nto such an extent that he will begin to reveal their hidden assets.<\/p>\n

“Nigerians demanded that President Buhari must declare his assets<\/span>
\npublicly because that was what the President promised when he was
\nseeking the people\u2019s votes.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt was part of President Buhari\u2019s electoral promises that his assets
\nwill be declared publicly and up till today, he has not done that. We
\nhave only been told that the President, whom they said was poor to the
\nextent that he had to take bank loan to buy his party\u2019s nomination, is
\nnow the owner of a mini estate in Asokoro, Abuja that is worth over N3
\nbillion.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe APC should rather explain to Nigerians how a man they said had no
\nhouses anywhere apart from Daura and Kaduna suddenly become owner of
\nhouses and landed properties in Kano, Abuja and Port-Harcourt?<\/p>\n

\u201cThey should also tell Nigerians what happened when President Buhari
\nheaded Petroleum Trust Fund (PTF) and why they lied to Nigerians that
\nthe president was poor, thereby obtaining Nigerians votes by trick.\u201d<\/p>\n

Speaking further, Olayinka said Governor Fayose was more than clean,
\nhaving been cleared by all courts in the land, and most importantly
\nsecured judgment against the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission<\/span>
\n(EFCC) for trespass and intrusion of his properties.<\/span><\/p>\n

“Up till today, the N10 million damages awarded against EFCC since
\n2009 has not been paid and he is in the process of filing a writ of<\/span>
\nfifa against the agency.<\/p>\n

“Therefore, the APC should tell President Buhari to come out clean to<\/span>
\nNigerians because it is clear that he is not the poor man he was<\/p>\n
