Seal the Crude has condoled with the Department of State Security (DSS) on
\nthe gruesome murder of some of its operatives by pipeline vandals in
\nArepo, describing the action as barbaric and unconscionable.<\/p>\n
The anti-oil theft advocacy group has also announced the appointments of
\nHon. Umar Bature and Dr. Adetunji Ogunyemi to serve as members of the
\nadvisory board of the Seal the Crude programme.<\/p>\n
A statement signed by Stephen Hemba, Programme Officer, the group
\nregretted that a fresh rally between the armed forces and other security
\nand para-military agencies to combat criminality in the waterways and the
\ndelta generally is being resisted by economic saboteurs who now target
\nsecurity operatives in retaliation.<\/p>\n
While grieving with the DSS, the statement however encouraged and
\ncommended the resilience of the entire security agencies against oil
\ntheft, noting that with the resounding national commitment being shown,
\nthe labour of fallen heroes shall never be in vain.<\/p>\n
Noting further that the renewed vigour by security agencies is yielding
\nresults as some illegal oil bunkerers have recently been busted, the
\nstatement called on prosecuting agencies especially the Economic and
\nFinancial Crimes Commission (EFCC) and political authorities to upscale
\ntheir engagements against arrested oil thieves.<\/p>\n
Hon. Bature the statement said, brings to the board a vast wealth of
\nknowledge, exposure and experience in security intelligence, policy
\nformulation and oil industry operations being a retired military officer
\nand two-time member of the House of Representatives.<\/p>\n
Dr. Ogunyemi on his part is a brilliant economic historian with the
\nObafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife. He brings to bear on the Seal the
\nCrude programme perspectives on economic imperatives of oil, budgeting and
\nother academic and intellectual contributions to the programme.<\/p>\n
Seal the Crude is a dedicated advocacy programme that provides a platform
\nfor sensitisation, enlightenment and harnessing of ideas, events and
\nactivities relating to the economic problem of theft of crude oil
