Governor Seriake Dickson of Bayelsa has described the death of Chief
\nDiepreye Alamieyeseigha, the first civilian governor of the state as a
\npersonal loss to him, the government and people of the state.<\/p>\n
The News Agency of Nigeria reports that Alamieyeseigha died on Saturday
\nevening at the University of Port Harcourt Teaching Hospital, where he was
\nreceiving medical care.<\/p>\n
Dickson, in a statement issued by his Chief Press Secretary, Daniel
\nIworiso-Markson, said Alamieyeseigha was a strong supporter of his
\nadministration.<\/p>\n
He said in the statement that Alamieyeseigha\u2019s demise was a very painful
\nand monumental loss to the entire Ijaw nation, which he had always
\ndefended.<\/p>\n
The Bayelsa governor also commiserated with the deceased\u2019s wife, Margaret,
\nhis immediate family, and the entire people of the state, noting that the
