It also includes fraudulently refusing to supply ambulances after collecting monies from another APC southwest state,\u201d Metuh said in a statement issued on September 20.<\/div>\n<div id=\"yui_3_16_0_1_1444726123285_2984\" style=\"text-align: justify;\"><\/div>\n<div id=\"yui_3_16_0_1_1444726123285_2985\" style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u00a0\u201cIt is then a comedy of roles when Alhaji Lai Mohammed speaks on corruption, a topic he practices and has well learnt, being a personal aide to one of the most corrupt politicians to ever bestride the political landscape of the country.\u201d<\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: justify;\"><\/div>\n<div id=\"yui_3_16_0_1_1444726123285_2986\" style=\"text-align: justify;\">However, Mohammed said Metuh\u2019s statement was targeted at inflicting \u201cdamage on my reputation and to lessen me in the estimation of the public\u201d. Through Wahab Shittu, his lawyer, Mohammed said Metuh\u2019s \u201cwilfully and maliciously false, destructive and defamatory statements exposed him to public opprobrium\u201d.<\/div>\n<div id=\"yui_3_16_0_1_1444726123285_2987\" style=\"text-align: justify;\"><\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: justify;\">Mohammed said the allegations were unsubstantiated as neither him nor any of his companies embezzled funds meant for fencing of an airport or was involved in a contract to supply ambulances to any state.<\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: justify;\"><\/div>\n<div id=\"yui_3_16_0_1_1444726123285_2994\" style=\"text-align: justify;\">Apart from the monetary compensation, Mohammed, who filed the suit before the Lagos state high court, prayed for an order directing the defendant to publish an apology to him and \u201cretract the libellous material in a widely read newspaper for seven consecutive days\u201d.<\/div>\n<div id=\"yui_3_16_0_1_1444726123285_2993\" style=\"text-align: justify;\"><\/div>\n<div id=\"yui_3_16_0_1_1444726123285_2992\" style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u00a0He also sought an order of perpetual injunction restraining \u201cMetuh, his cronies, or any newspaper\/magazine from further publishing or disseminating the libellous materials or something similar\u201d.<\/div>\n<div id=\"yui_3_16_0_1_1444726123285_2991\" style=\"text-align: justify;\"><\/div>\n<div id=\"yui_3_16_0_1_1444726123285_2990\" style=\"text-align: justify;\">The APC spokesman said the publication has \u201cseriously\u201d damaged his personal and professional reputation and caused him considerable pain, distress and embarrassment, resulting in his suffering loss of esteem.<\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: justify;\">cableng<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"base-card-clear\" style=\"text-align: justify;\"><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\n<!-- AddThis Advanced Settings generic via filter on the_content --><!-- AddThis Share Buttons generic via filter on the_content --><!-- AddThis Related Posts generic via filter on the_content -->","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Lai Mohammed, national publicity secretary of the All Progressives Congress (APC), has filed a N500 million libel suit against Olisa Metuh, his counterpart in the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
